Broke out the F40 for a Tokyo blast to start balancing the books following the purchase of the F1 GTR.

Completed Sardegna and Watkins WTC800 Events in the F1 GTR - not as bad as opinions suggest; it isn't as stable as modern GT3/Gr.3 cars - it is rapid though and will power through the field on FM6, FM1 is like a party trick ha ha.

Started Tokyo CE - I run it so much, it should surely be a straight forward Gold. Sector 1 done in 2 attempts... to be continued.

I completed my week of immersion in Ferrari on Saturday and started last night with my immersion manufacturer this week, Audi.

I raced an R8 in the Tokyo 600pp 12 lapper and although I won, I was wondering what I could achieve with a lightweight R8 as I had to add a lot of ballast to keep the 500hp and get below 600pp. It is a heavy car and although successful I couldn't help but think about balancing light weight and low hp to rely on the torque to get off of corners quicker and what would that result look like.

So I set to work building a Lightweight R8. I used three weight reduction levels and only added a couple of engine mods. I used ballast and a slight horsepower reduction to get under 600pp. The car was amazing! I was able to get fast lap which I have never done. I have built multiple race winning 600pp cars for that race but I have never received fast lap, it was a massive success.

Tonight I will do more races with my Lightweight R8 and I took my first R8 and pumped up the horsepowers to get around 600hp. Should rip in 700pp races.

I've run it maybe 15 to 20 times and not got the CRB once 🤣
At first it was because I was getting pit lane penalties (didn't know why but a poster on another thread cleared that up with great help)

Once I'd sorted that out I've had about 4 or 5 races without pitting (that pit lane entrance is pretty narrow!) but still only get Cr. 200k - no CRB. Can't be going off the track because it will slap a penalty on you PDQ if you do that. Sometimes a minor tap into the back of a lurcher, or getting tapped from behind - all minor, but still no bonus!

Sardegna or LeMans will give you CRB after multiple pile-ups. 😎

Never mind, Watkins is a lovely track and fun to race on.
The only times I didn’t get the CRB at Watkins was when I misjudged braking into turns and slid off track, which aside from hitting other cars on the same lap as you is the most common way to lose the CRB from my experience. I usually have 1 or sometimes 2 tires on the curb in turns though, depending on what car I’m using.
Sardegna and Sarthe are glitched (maybe intentional?) for the CRB payout. You will almost always get the CRB no matter how often you go off track or how many times you hit others.

I learned something about GT7 indirectly over the weekend...

I've barely touched GT since trying ACC. Over the weekend, I tried to make it out of turn 1 while playing in public lobbies and couldn't do it. I got pole position a few times, starting no worse than 6th and never made it out of the 1st turn without needing to pit immediately, or unable to make it to the pits.

How does this relate to GT. I and many others complain about the spaced out rolling starts and my experience above must be the reason why. It'd be impossible to make it out of turn one unscathed, especially with their worthless SR/DR system. Odds are, we won't get improved starts until they fixed the SR implementation.

Got my first win on my alt account! 1821089ec1050-27720657D01D4B63844.315B375F96579043_message_424482513985270_1658134820254.jpg

Dang that’s weird, I almost always get the CRB there. Even though it’s a somewhat low payout I run there regularly because it’s a fun track and doesn’t take much time. I’ve never made a pit stop there though.
Usually, only overtaking under yellow flags stops the crb. Doesn't matter how often to spin or hit other cars, only the yellow flag business

Did the Sardenga Sport Race (Started 12th and finished 5th with a Clean Race), then took my CWEST Razo "Botan" GT-R Gr 4 to Deep Forest for a test run with a copypasta setup from @praiano63's Evo Gr 4 tune and held up pretty well.

Got a Ferrari Invitation from a 4 Star, so I bought the Nissan VGT instead :D

This quoted part of my comment you quoted was specific to Watkin Glen track. Your statement/response is true for Sarthe and Sardegna, but not Watkins Glen as you will lose your CRB at Watkins Glen for hitting others or going off track, as is the case usually in other events as well.

Really? Wasn't aware of that. I've always got the crb on Watkins Glen. Every days a school day.

I have mainly been focusing on messing with the variety of cars in the game these past few days. I did the Le Mans WTC700 with the fully-maxed Gr.4 Viper and Citroën GT today and enjoyed it…until the damn rain came. It was then when I spent more time hydroplaning and severely out-braking myself than having fun.

I was never quick in the wet in GT Sport, and it remains the case in GT7. At least I can drive most cars in the pouring rain without TCS or ASM, though I do need to be easier with the throttle.

Took K20’s swapped-Roadster for another try. Same ****, different day. They need to either jettison the Dynamic Weather altogether or do a serious re-work. Its not just broken, it flat-out cheats has been my experience. I was hoping for, and would’ve gotten my first sub-4:00 lap time at Sarthe, without this rigged system in place.

Decided to spend a little time at The Glen to work on details of the Challenge and put up some times with the swapped-‘69 Camaro. Got it dialed in after a really bad first lap and pulled out the win on the Clubman Cup. As I was going to post results, I re-read an earlier post about one of the ‘hot rods’ not being able to compete as they weren’t a road car and discovered that the Ford Roadster was the only one of the 5 eligible to compete in that race, so I ran it back on the WTC800 and got absolutely smoked, as expected.

Turned my focus to some 911’s that I hadn’t tuned up yet and started off with Exeter’s 930 tune. Very nice, easy drive and surprisingly good fuel economy made up for a lot of resentments, lol.

I then turned my eyes towards Praiano’s 996, only to discover he had published a Wicked GT tune that I decided to try after and instead opted for Exe’s 996. What a treat that was, very similar to the 930, but better in nearly every way. It is definitely a new favorite of mine for Sarthe, smashing drive!

Finally the GT was due its moment in the sun…or not. The race was going well, with the pace staying slow enough that I figured any rain would be negligible. That remained true until 1/3 of the way through the 5th lap (too late to see it coming of course) and every single flaw in the car was magnified by a factor of 20 when the typhoon hit. I spun coming out of the 2nd big chicane and my race was over. Sat there for an entire minute trying anything to get the car pointed straight to no avail. As soon as the tires bit, it was a full 360 no matter what I did. I actually quit the race with just about 8 minutes remaining it was so futile. Undeterred, I restarted the race, failed to repeat my many errors from the first go (going straight to this car after the 2 911’s was likely my biggest mistake here) and had a pretty solid race going. Saw the rain coming this time at the end of L2 and took no chances, straight to IM’s. Weathered the storm and was in great position for a L7 hot-lap until I gave just a smidge too much throttle coming out of that early baby chicane and spun right off onto the still very wet side of the track. Memories of the first race came flooding back after 2 failed attempt to get back on the dry stuff, but finally managed it and off I went. What happened in the second race is fine, as I was a victim of my own mistake, so its not always sour grapes when it comes to the rain!

Made some good $ and enjoyed all 5 cars, so that’s the important thing. Until next time!

Tried to run the Tokyo race with the Alpine again and kept getting penalties galore. I won the race by a minute and a half yesterday. Just kept getting impatient (that or I'm really tired). Gonna have to see if I can beat it with the 2J or another car. Did a run of Sardgena in the 2J though, probably the best handling and breaking car for that race, but the GR010 Hybrid is still faster.

On the GTP account, I pulled out Old Reliable (the R33) for a no-stop variant of the Tokyo wet race. The 4-star Wheel of Despair gave the low-cash option of 30,000 Cr.

Instead of buying the Porsche Sypder out of Hagerty's, I bought the 2008 NSX GT500 for this week's WRS time trial, then turned some time trial laps with both it at Sardegna (once this week's time trial is over, it's becoming my new WTC 800 grinder) and the 2003 M3 at Deep Forest (improving my time at the latter by about a second).

On the Plus account, I eventually golded the Barcelona CE, and the 4-star Wheel of Despair gave the...wait for it...low-cash option of 30,000 Cr.

Working on the Nurburgring CE and have golded all the sectors, but I am struggling with the whole lap. My first complete lap was 2 seconds off of silver, and it took me all evening to shave off those two seconds and finally get the silver. How in the world am I going to shave off EIGHT more seconds to get the gold?!

And I'm very VERY tired of Sarah chirping in with "Good Job! You suck! Take a deep breath and think about why you suck so maybe you can stop sucking so much." Thanks for the advice, jerk.

5 star ticket gave me Cr. 500k. Very nice! Was worried because the smallest pile of coins I've ever seen was on the wheel too - just a few scattered around. Luckily landed on the 5 gold bars 👍

Finally won a race at Watkins and got the CRB. Was being super careful! Did it again and - nah, no bonus. I think there must be a kerb or something that I shouldn't be near. Only contact came from AI bumping into me (very gently).

Had the best online experience since i bought the game. Solid 500 kms on the ring for daily race C. Finally a real track again, after all those wide boring fake ones. I get why they are pouplar, you can make mistakes and get away with them. On the ring, no such thing. Did one qualy lap before entering, a slow 7:22.5 8th on the grid start en finish 2nd with fastest lap.

I always did one qualy lap before the race and for the next 2 races i could not get better the 7:22.0 in qualifying, always starting around 9th position though my racepace was much faster at 7:13/14. Finally got a clean lap in qualy, 7:09.8 and was hoping for a pole or top 3 start, though i ended up 9th again in a much faster lobby. I hate the qualy system in gt7!!!!!!

Anyway some of the best races done online since i quit racing pc2, so very good day here! Cant wait to do it again tomorrow. Online A licence incoming!

I just didn't have any consistency today. On the GTP account, I tried the no-stop strategy at Sarthe with a stock Huracan Gr.4, and once I found a dry race, I didn't quite have the pace (was down 9 seconds to the Vette after his second stop). I finally gave up and did a 1-stop strategy on that same dry race, and it was QUICK. FM3 for the first 4 laps (top lap of 4:19.5), and FM1 for the last 3 (top lap of 4:14.3, with a fresh set of RH tires) in 30:49.

The car could use some tuning - it has a nasty tendency to snap on lift-throttle and partial-throttle - but it is quite speedy and thrifty on fuel. The 3-star marathon Wheel of Despair turned out the lowest-possible 5,000 Cr. At least I had enough to get the Porsche Spyder before it disappeared from Hagerty's.

On the Plus account, I golded the Kyoto Yamagiwa CE, and put in just enough miles to get a Bore Up S for the 2003 Audi TT Coupe 3.2 quattro.

The first thing I did was adjust my philosophy. I know from experience that my best performances come when I remember that ‘Rome wasn’t built in a day.’ Add to that, ‘stop trying to make the car into something it isn’t’ and stop blaming everything else for my shortcomings… Now I’m much less upset with the game and you poor folks don’t have to listen to me rant about my bad experience(s).

So I took K20’s Mazda Roadster back out on Sarthe, expected the worst from the weather and it obliged. I moved slower in the curves, but only had 2 costly mistakes as a result. No, I didn’t set any new PR’s, but that’s OK. Probably could’ve gotten a sub-4:10 in, but I let a tire go into the margin, where it was still quite wet, slid and spun out right at the end. It was frustrating at the moment, but once I watched the replay to identify what happened, it made sense and I could move on.

Time for a rehash of Pra’s Wicked GT tune, another car that was a victim of my stubborn behavior yesterday. I tried to force it do to some things at Sarthe that it wasn’t capable of because I didn’t want to drive Tokyo, its intended track for the given tune. So off to Tokyo I went and quickly remembered why I don’t like this course. 40 seconds in penalties (20 of them in the L2 alone) surely didn’t help, but a miserable 14th place was all I could muster. I’ll just have to keep grinding away at this course until I get more proficient, but once a day is all I can handle right now.

Back to the Porsche’s and a big whiff right out of the gate with Exe’s 964. Its a tall order to just tune a car up to 700 from 550 and expect too much and I’ll just leave it at that. The weather didn’t help, but I actually felt better when the track was inundated with water, go figure.

Hopped into the 993 RS next, this was also up-tuned from 600, so I crossed my fingers and hoped for the best. The car was also fully built, so i figured this would be tricky, but did my best to remain faithful to the tune.

Forget it, both cars were too far from the initial tunes for me to appropriately review. Fence-building is the only place where its OK to try and fit a square peg into a round hole. Also, I should’ve heeded my earlier words about ‘stop trying to make the car into something it isn’t.’

Took a run at The Glen after realizing I used improper tires yesterday and had to DQ my times. I actually managed a better overall time though, so that was nice.

The controller is about to die and I need to get off my ass, ‘til next time folks!

EDIT: Purchased another 996 and 997 and a 991 for testing tomorrow.

So I tried out the PS4 Version of the game thanks to the dual entitlement thing and as soon as it finished downloading it gave me all trophies I earned on the PS5 Version! I know why it did this, but I still found it to be humorous. Feels like an illegitimate platinum, but I'll take it. I now have 8 Platinum trophies!🔥🔥🔥

There's definitely a noticeable difference between the two versions, I like how the cars in the PS4 Version don't have all that gleam on them as they do in the PS5 Version of the game however on this version environments feel more lifeless and even more sterile as to be expected.

Attempted to fight fire with fire for the Sardegna WTC800, using a maxed-out Viper GT3-R. Two-stop strategy (stopped every five laps) netted me the win. Keep it on fuel map 2 for the entirety of the race and lift and coast just before the corners.

Next, it was on to the Le Mans WTC700 with a maxed-out Scirocco Gr.4 car. Went three laps on the hard slicks with the fuel map on 2. Seeing that there was rain marching towards me on the radar, I swapped to the inters for the next three laps. For the final lap with the track now dry enough, I switched back to the hard slicks and won. I set the fuel map to 1 for the final lap since I filled the tank just enough. Fun race, but it reminded me why I never use FF cars for these events: the rapid front tire wear.

Finally, I did the Laguna Seca WTC700 with a maxed-out Alfa 155 and won easily. Pitted on lap 5 and won by over 35 seconds. No need to switch from fuel map 1 to a leaner mix.
