Today I wasted an hour proving that I'm a complete idiot. I tried to finally get the last gold mission in Lake Maggiore. Two and a half seconds ahead of P2 halfway through the final lap, I tried, probably unnecessaryly, to adjust my fuel map, in a turn BEFORE reaching the back straight. Came onto the grass and spun out.

I don't think I'll ever try that race again.

I made up my mind and did the race again. It worked out this time.
 
Tackled the last Group 1 cafe event at Suzuka. Luck was with me. Took the amazing Alpine VGT and entered the race under blue skies. As lap 4 ended the skies turned gray. Just as I was entering the final chicane before pit row at the end of lap 5, the skies opened. First in first out with full wets and cruised to a stupidly easy victory. Got a 6 star for the daily with which the wheel of misfortune handed me a stock Veyron, plus the cafe's 6 star engine ticket.
 
So after being away most of last week I have decided to immerse myself in the Ferrari brand this week. I built a couple of cars on the weekend and will race them again tonight.

I created a de-tuned F12 for the 700pp race at Lemans and won twice with it. I also mildly customized another F12 and won the Ferrari race at Maggiore. So I will use both tonight on other 700pp and Ferrari only events.

I then would like to do some grinding as I spent nearly 25 million on a whole host of cars this weekend. Need to get some credits back in the account.
 
On the GTP account, I struggled mightily to find the pace and the strategy at a highly-variable Spa with the Corvette Gr.3. I eventually did so, and got insulted with a lowest-possible 10,000 Cr. from the 4-star Wheel of Despair. At least I bought the last Enzo Ferrari I wanted for tuning purposes, so the invites can now go straight to the shredder.

On the Plus account, I realized I hadn't done anything at Watkins Glen, so I used the Mustang GT to get a surprisingly close and very-surprisingly clean (because I kept messing up the bus stop) win at the American FR Challenge (barely ahead of the Challenger, from whom I took the lead in the short chute, and the Viper, which I passed in the Corkscrew), needed SS tires to get the Camaro ZL1 past the American Clubman Cup as I just didn't have the consistency on the stock SM tires, and had to short-shift the Corvette Gr.3 on the last lap for an otherwise-easy no-stop win in the WTC 800. The 3-star Wheel of Despair was the low-cash option 10,000 Cr. (guess I should be thankful it wasn't 5,000 Cr.).
 
Now that I'm pretty much out of single player content to play, I'm doing a lot of custom races.

I’ve tuned a lot of cars to 700 pp and now I run them against each other in custom races. I call it the “Super WTC 700”, because instead of being just Gr4 cars, it has cars in the 685-700 pp range, specifically:
-only Gr4 cars that can be tuned to 685-700 pp
-Gr3 cars detuned to 700 pp
-road cars in with racing parts, tuning, and livery with a max of 700 pp (includes a lot of the engine swap cars)

Today will forever be known as NISMO day for me.

Saw Pra published a tune, so I ran an old hybrid I had from Morse Monkey and Exeter with some of Pra’s settings sprinkled in. It was a mess, so I reset it to Pra’s spec with my usual tweaks and had a very nice race from the car, not so much the driver. I made repeated critical errors that cost me at least a minute overall, but that old, reliable D. Weather driver showed up and screwed me again. Final time was like 31:32 with a best lap of 4:13 and change.

Then I purchased another NISMO as I liked my old hybrid tune and wanted to give both MM and Exe’s another go. Neither have the internals upgraded, hence the purchase of a new one. Plugged everything in and ran Exe’s tune and it went fair to middling. Not that there’s anything wrong with the tune, definitely grippier. This time D. Weather showed up and bent me over something fierce though and I JUST finished 6 Laps in 30.065.

Hybridized Pra’s tune with a few bits from Exe’s to balance out some brake-lock issues I was having and to give it just a bit more grip. Good results, but the lap times were just a bit slow (although I whupped D. Weather’s ass in this race, finally). Swapped to a M Turbo for a very slight fuel burn concern (FM6 made 3 laps, but I did have to layoff in a couple spots) and to try and squeeze a bit more pace through more ECU. Also made some very slight trans adjustments for the same reasons. Best road car lap time ever for me. Fiddled with the trans one more time and turned my best time overall at Sarthe, just missed on the lap time as I ran out right after the final chicane and had no push for the lest few 100 meters. My 4th gear is too short and 5th is too long. After that, I don’t think I can do anything more to the car to improve it. I had to change the oil on the car 3 times today, lol.

Overall, ran some version of it 6 times and made nearly $5M towards the Porsche 550 and Jaguar. Bought the Porsche (beautiful little car!) and now I’m broke again, ah well.

Then had a buddy log on I play a few other games with, so I switched it up and hopped on GTA for a bit. GTA is a big part of the reason I love this car. The Elegy was so dominant and for a long time, most people didn’t know how good it really was.

EDIT: Ran one more before switching it up. This one with no internals and the final gearbox. I switched from FM2 to 1 with about 1/3 of a lap remaining and ran out of gas. Definitely would’ve beat my lap and overall times from earlier. That said, the version with the upgraded internals is quicker IMO.

I think its safe to say I would’ve shaved 8+ seconds off the final lap time if I had fuel.

Subtract that 8+ seconds from my overall time and I would’ve set both my Personal Records, so close!!!

Took the Lexus LC-F gt500 to Sardegna for the workout ticket. What an utter waste of time. 4 star ticket of dispondency gives an invitation to Bugatti..... Just what is the point anymore?

I guess you know this already, but if your enjoyment on the game relies on Daily Workout tickets, you're setting yourself up for the mother of all disappointments.

I did the exact same race last night for the first time - Lexus GT500 at Sardegna... I enjoyed the race so much I did it twice. And yes, I got a 10,000 Cr. slap in the face for my troubles too, but it didn't spoil my enjoyment of the ca. 1 hour of driving I had too.

I agree if you play just to get tickets you will quit the game in frustration :lol:
 
On the GTP account, I decided to do something foolish and try a bone-stock KTM X-BOW at the Tokyo rain dance. It took a couple of tries, and the successful run almost ended in disaster as I had to radically short shift on the last lap (and yet I still ran out of fuel just as I crossed the line), but I managed a 3.6-second win on a no-stop FM1 strategy. It took 28:03, so don't try this one at home on hard difficulty. The 4-star Wheel of Despair gave the usual lowest-possible 10,000 Cr.

I then bought another 2003 BMW M3 (making 6 total) and some Sport Medium tires for it, slapped together a basic WRS-themed livery, and took it to a time trial around Deep Forest for this week's WRS time trial. It is a bit twitchy, but mostly manageable, despite what @shoenboggie said in the OP. Doing the time trial also gave me the Time Attacker trophy. For the platinum, I still need the 3 photo-related trophies, the 10-of-a-kind car trophy, the 10 wheels trophy, the 2 faster speed trophies, the three legendary cars trophy, and the Sport Mode trophies.

On the Plus account, I had the "couldn't sync saved data" error for, I think, the third time. Once again, it didn't mean anything as things were as I left them. I golded the Watkins Glen CE, and the resulting 4-star roulette wasn't a Wheel of Despair for once, giving me the Jaguar F-type Gr.3.

After the UCD/Hagerty refresh, I came back to the GTP account to get the 2 Sambabuses I needed for engine purposes.

The usual spa race, this time woth the Penzzoil Nissan. Great car. The did some 800pp races with old detuned gt1 class cars for some fun. Ended up driving about 300 kms. Got a high lift camshaft for a car i dont have. Saw gt2 race on sport, happy. Then saw the track, not gonna bother. Im probably one of the few people that dont bother with the fake tracks cause they are just not good or fun imo. I'll stick to the real world tracks

Yeah I know what you're saying. I just think that the "prize" should maybe mirror the ticket value, which in turn should mirror the mileage set to gain the ticket.
I honestly do love GT7, I just think the invitations are a slap in the face, as you put it.
Sardegna is such a great track. I've done it loads of times, with different cars each time.
I'm hoping some future updates include a couple more endurance races, which I enjoy more, on different tracks. Maybe 1 hour on Dragon Trails.
 
Lately just checking the used car lot for the dupes of cars I need for engine swaps. Yesterday was the Samba Bus. Still need a mini, C3 convertible and the widebody Z. Then toyed around on my tablet with creating .svg decals, but mostly eager to see what a possible July update will bring since the engine bonanza excitement is waning.
 
I won the 30 laps endurance race mission at Tsukuba with variable weather(Moby Dick), with my trusty 4rotor RX-7 with the engine nerfed down to about 360hp and some other settings to fit in the 600pp limit.

That **** was harder than I expected, but to my surprise the nerfed 4 rotor engine is VERY fuel efficient, I went the whole race without refueling!

I just had to pit in at lap 10 to switch from my worn out Sports Softs to new Sport Hards, then I went the rest of the race without needing to pit-in again.

With this being said, at heavy weather and with SH tires the RX7 still likes to wheelspin all the way into third gear, so I had to use TCS 2 to not preserve the tires which is something I don't like to do.

Pitiful money reward at the end was infuriating, THAT WAS A 37 MINUTES RACE!!!!

I do something similar to what you do in these custom races but only with my swapped cars, they're between the 550pp to 600pp range so the racing is usually tight if boost(which is just catch-up for the AI anyway) is set to strong.

And the best part is that the handling varies wildly between each engine swapped car, so the end results are always a toss up, and on professional difficulty there is an actual challenge made by the AI(altough its faked, again because of the catch up mechanic, but otherwise they just wouldn't know how to keep up).

I wish there was a way to presave the custom race settings so you could use them on the other tracks, so far the only thing I can save is the variable weather I think.
 
A try at beating my silver TT time in sport mode at Fuji, just not getting it with that track, Done a 30 minute race at Le Mans in McLaren F1 , pitted 4 times in 7 laps, setup was a gas guzzler :) crashed a few times and still won by 9 secs :)
 
A rainy day off yesterday meant lots and lots of seat time, cleaning up those longer events that I never have had time for. Had good fortune on all of the rain events. Today I felt like running VGT cars around the Driving Park in the VGT event. Grabbed the nondriven stock Nissan VGT from the garage and was immediately ice racing lol. Sport Mediums as stock rubber on this beast? Oooops. Backed out of the race and installed RH and had a blast. Powerful car. I then realised that I never did get around to buying the BMW "VGT". Definitely a car that you can feel the laying on of power and the pull from it. I'll be buying more than one for sure. What a pleasure to drive.
 
Woke up in the middle of the night and gave Banter’s ‘98 Integra tune a try, very nice and made some great time(s). I did discover while messing around with that car/tune, Anti-Lag does not appear to have ANY impact on its fuel economy. More testing will be required of it and other vehicles.

Decided it’s Lamborghini day and went for Exeter’s LP400 first. The car is screaming fast in the straights with great acceleration and has stellar fuel economy. That said, even after a lot of tinkering, I could not reliably fix the rear-end, any throttle/braking with the slightest turn of the wheel resulted in an unrecoverable mess. There are a few more options I will try at some point. Also, the brakes are horrible!

25th Anni up next, also Exe’s tune, MUCH more drivable. The car feels like its had 25 years for Lambo to fix what ailed it, lol. Does not have the blistering acceleration of the ‘74, but the top speed is there And the fuel economy is good, though not as good as the ‘74. You still have to be mindful of hard acceleration/braking while turning, but its a slip, not a spin with the 25th. The braking is better, but not that much, I wonder if that was a trait of the Countach in general.

On to Exe’s Murcielago, finally a car that drives properly. It’s a pity her fuel economy is so bad or it might be more viable. Other than that its a pretty good car without all those nasty Countach traits. D. Weather blindsided me at an 11:30 pit and I lost nearly all of a 1:30 lead, it would have cost me the race with either of the C’s I’m sure. Closed the last 2 laps on IM’s, but this time the track dried very quickly and I ate those tires up on L7.

Finally, Pra’s Diablo. Now this is more what I’d been looking for. A solid performer with nice fuel economy! Everything was going fine until my pit for fuel at the end of L3. Saw the clouds, map didn’t look terrible and I elected to stay on RH’s. Well D. Weather made me pay for that decision and L4 was a 7 minute debacle, by the time I came out of the pit on 5 (IM’s now), I was 25 seconds behind. It took over a lap to catch up as the track never really dried and finished with a paltry 6 laps. It’s a shame because I’m pretty sure I could’ve gotten under 4:10, but that was not to be. Definitely the best car of the 4 and probably the only one I’ll drive at Sarthe again.

I’m $1M short of the D-type, but that’s easily made later. Done for the day I think.
 
On the GTP account, I did the usual Sardegna grind, lapping everybody except Portilla and his Viper. The 4-star Wheel of Despair gave...wait for it...wait for it...wait for it...the lowest-possible 10,000 Cr.

On the Plus account, I golded the Three Amig...er...three layouts at Willow Springs, and the 3-star roulette gave me another RX-8. Guess that's better than the 5,000 Cr. and 10,000 Cr. that were also on the wheel...maybe.

Saving custom races would make GT7 infinitely replayable, imo. It's a must-have feature, probably even more than selling cars.

I agree, the variations in handling among the cars make the custom races fun and unpredictable. Track-by-track, the results vary wildly; yet it manages to be mostly close, competitive racing. There are a few cars that are exceptions but might become more competitive as I tune them.

The only thing that makes these custom races less fun is that the fuel efficiency is also varied a lot. For instance, the swapped M3 can stay on the track a bit longer than the Gr4 cars and way longer than any of the 2JZ-swapped cars.
 
Today I figured out that when the Autopolis WTC 700 race is loading, part of the loading process is to determine whether or not you own Heavy Wet tires. This is important, because if you do not own HW tires, it will start raining early into the 6th lap. Although the first wet lap is not too bad, it clears up for two laps, rains again, and the last lap time will be somewhere around 6 minutes.

OTOH, if you do have wet tires it will probably not rain, although it will get cloudy and sprinkle just enough to encourage you to equip Heavy Wet tires when you pit for fuel on lap 7. Equipping Heavy Wet tires will reset the rain to 'off', and you will not have rain, instead you will burn up the HW tires in 2 laps.

At 18 minutes per attempt x2 attempts and still finishing last, despite beginning lap 10 in first place. I am done with this race.

BTW, if you spin out on the last turn, your car will be reset by 1/2 lap, back before the sharp downhill left.

After several days just running the PanAmerican script only i decided to go back to Sardegna and Le Mans. Testing new strategy's and cars. It was fun. Almost back to the credit cap, planning on buying everything from the Brand Central very soon as i own everything from the USD and LSD.
