I had a lot of fun with the latest update cars (although I'm still trying to get that boat of an R34 to handle properly). Still...lol

Starting with the N-One which I took out to the 400pp Kei Car Nurburgring Challenge. An easy, but fun little race. I took first by the halfway point and then it was easy sailing to the finish.



Then I made a grid of 8 wide-bodied 450pp (stock tires) versions and made a 2 lap Custom Race around Tokyo Expressway - Counterclockwise. Looking forward to getting Sophy on board with this car, but for now 2 laps is about as long as I can make this race without spending too much time in the lead by myself.



Then it was time to test it on the loose stuff. Full send (and fully tuned at 458pp on dirt tires) around Sardegna Windmills. Lovely FWD rally car. A pleasure to drive.



Lastly (for now) it was time for the surprise of the update. The Renault Clio V6 with the EJ20 Rally Car engine swapped in (making it the Renault Clio Boxer...lol). This thing is such a blast to drive. I wouldn't count it amongst my fastest in the 550pp class (that's what I set it up for), but it's so much fun to drive. The sound of the V6 is glorious, and it almost seems sacrilegious to remove it. Yet, that little 4 banger really wakes this car up. So, I had a little fun with it in Tokyo. Not my fastest of all the laps, but it was the most fun. So, here it is.



All together a great update. Even the Z-Tune is fun (and sounds great with exhaust upgrades). It's handling is just a bit off for me. I need to spend some time with it to dial out some of it's peculiar handling characteristics. I'll get there, but it's not a priority at this time.

Banged out the weekly challenge races. Selling all my cars awhile ago has made the game more interesting, as I now have to buy cars to do the weekly races again instead of just picking the most OP car I have that is eligible.

Did a Daily A having forgot how heavy the R34 feels on sport tires. Didn't kill anyone or get killed, but did manage to pick up some track penalties, resulting in a slight SR reduction.

Went and found a GR4 lobby race on Trial Mountain. Waited for the running race to finish. Signed up. Host switched track to Tokyo. Got pushed in to the barrier on lap 1. Host had it setup for barrier penalties (1.5 second per touch) and hard damage. Yeah, not the most fun things to combine in an online lobby.

In the morning today (Sunday), joined a livestreamers lobby race and this happened, just to give context this race really annoyed me afterwards and spilt my feelings for GT7's badly made penalty sytem and gaming online mechanics.

We started an emulation of Daily Race B at Nurburgring GP, and on lap 1 I was chaisng a south african racer in the G70 he was in a Red Viper gr.4, he had terrible lag in the lobby, but I unfortunalty bumped him on right hander and he spun, i was like oh bugger ok I will wait. Gave him the place back as a normal decent racer, should be doing, then proceeded to play catchup.

Kept pushing and on lap 2, I was chasing (see clip below) these two racers, one in Lambo and the other in a Silvia S14 touring car. I was gaining on them, the Lambo driver was all over the place not keepin' a decent racing line, I then do a switch back on both going into the right hander and it was soemwhat successful. Bit bumpy not gonna lie, but I got past. A bit of netcode barged in too by the looks if it.

Then as I approach the slow chicane, the Lambo guy goes and rams me at full speed, causing me to spin and the game to reset my car, I lose so many places and my race is totaled. Start a back and forth on the chat, this guys begins to blame be for bumping people and it is absolutlety frustrating they think they can be a white knight or sum other bs, your actions are unnaccepatble and you are spoiling the race for everyone.

It can be seen also on the Livestreamers video but he was too far ahead when this particular incident happened. But I get why there are some moron racers that have the bloody audacity to blame you for something you havent done and then go and destroy your race for pathetic kicks. A second punt was also cause on lap 4 by another aussie racer for no reason, they just didnt like me, not sure.



Apologies for a bit of a ngetaive rant, but I dont join races on Sunday to get punted, we were all in that lobby were just having fun and this guy had to spoil it.

Today i bought it. Didnt played since gt5 on ps3.
I was waiting till i got an wheel, but the price was to low to pass on.
Now, i have to learn to use L2/R2 to acc/brake and L1/R1 to shift.
30 years playing racing games with B/X (snes) or X/SQUARE (ps1,3,4,5) doesnt help.

No you don't. You could use the classic Gran Turismo method. Both analog sticks (left for steering, right for gas and brake L2/R2 to shift), or you could use X (cross) for gas and square for brakes, or whatever you please.

I personally can't stand the triggers for gas/brake. The only games where I use that method are the ones that give you no choice (Need for Speed Unbound (Blegh...), and Pacific Drive for example). To each their own of course.

Nope.

GT allows you to place the gas/brake/shift up/shift down, to any button you desire.

Just press options button on the main map or go to the GT logo on the top left and then to settings.

Find controller settings and start assigning buttons.

Today I felt like a gentle cruise in the countryside in my Speedster (PP 379), so in Custom race, set the weather to "nice", went to the back of the grid, and placed 19 Škoda Vision cars (PP 861) on the grid in front of me, with Professional difficulty.

I mean, I'd like some semi-decent money while I cruise. And I intended to win, despite the PP disadvantage.

Did I win? Of course I did, walking away with 120K+ credits. The secret was to set fuel consumption at ~16x and choose high-PP EVs as the opposition.

At around 6 minutes in, I caught up with a Škoda traffic jam. 😂

Next time, I might take a Honda S800 and make even better prize money while enjoying the fresh air and bucolic scenery.

I know that, but i also know that the L2/R2 triggers are alot more precise.
I strugled to keep it up every time i played online, or taming cars that require more finesse.

I know that feeling. But as I said to savolainen, they are more precise. i have to try in the beginning at least, when i have to learn all over again.

I don't know where you're getting the idea the triggers are more precise. They are no more or less precise than the analog sticks.

More range than the X/Square. Not necessarily "more precise". The buttons are also analog. There was a member here (back in the early to mid 2000's) named "Sheron" who only used the analog buttons (X/Square) and was ridiculously fast (and precise). It's not the method I would use, but it's certainly possible.

I'd give the analog sticks a try, if I were you. Just a suggestion. You do you.

I play with the joystick settings, steering with left, throttle and brake with right. Shift with L2 /R2. The advantage is you can really dose the brakes and throttle that way.
 
Today I tried for the 10th time to win the 600pp race at Interlagos. I got a smoking hot Porsche 911 GT1 Straßenversion but it's just not aggressive enough in the corners on the hard tires. I really am gaining in on the leader until lap 4 where the Gallardo takes the lead and it's usually followed by the Huracan, I would need an extra lap or two to win the race. Maybe I just need to acquire a Gallardo or Huracan? Maybe the 911 GT1 is not the right material for the matter but I absolutely love this gem and I would think if any car can do this, it would be this one.

Note :
I always play on the most difficult level and won't back off of that principle, unless I need to really pass a weekly event for the reward I otherwise can't win (but that's really exceptional).

I have been using the analog stick based control scheme since the introduction of the Dual Shock (for the first GT game). I've always preferred it to the trigger method, that is so prevalent these days. When I'm not using my wheel/cockpit setup, that is.

A wheel/pedals is by far the best method, but it requires shelling out at least a few hundred to get a "decent" wheel/pedal combo + the space for a cockpit setup. So, it's not ideal for everyone.

I didn't play since GT4. I put 400.000 racing kms on that game. It felt so good to get into GT7, very relatable to GT4. The only thing I miss is B-spec mode. I wish you the best with the game, old school rocks. Don't let the negative comments of new players about the bad economy in-game get you down. Just play and enjoy the eye candy.

I bought my son a Thrustmaster T248 while I play old school with a controller. He prefers Beamng drive though on his pc. But it's compatible with PS4, I made sure of that. I just want to play chill and relaxed.

I completely understand that. As I've said, I have a wheel/pedal/shifter combo, and I love it (I used to have PSVR2 as well, which I HIGHLY recommend), but 75% of the time I still use the Dual Sense, sitting comfortably on my bed. GT7 is one of the better games with regards to controller implementation. I've rarely played any game that comes close to how good this game is with a controller.
 
After a little break from the game, this past weekend I bought the new cars, tuned and test drove the N-One and completed the weekly races.

I also drove the Aston Martin DB5 '64 at Nordschleife. Just like the Mercedes 300SL few weeks ago, it was another case were suspension settings were needed big time. I wish I could enjoy the old cars in a configuration as close to the default settings as possible. Too bad.

Despite of that, I enjoyed the DB5 a little bit more than the 300SL. Here's the lap:

I got in this morning with intention of doing a grind race to build my cash reserves back up but I didn't have enough time. So I bought a few cars from the UCD. I got a Celica for swap purposes and the 73 BMW and Tuscan Speed six because both are in red right now. I haven't really paid attention if they were available in those colors before. They probably were
