So, I've done alright...

I've been thinking of buying a 406 coupe myself, they're great cars.

Wanted a Subaru Impreza WRX STi, which I got.... so it was perfect...and that after only having a driving licence for 6 months.... :)

I say it once, I sat it again!

daan's car is gorgeous! I think we need Peugeot to make a trip to the US in the near future.

Current:
Want: Civic EK/EG or Toyota Celica
Got: Toyota Celica ST184

Next:
Want: Nissan (Kouki) S14 240sx or 89'-99' MR2 Turbo (2nd gen)
Got: Nothign yet, gonna wait a 2-3 years. :)

I wanted a 2nd-generation GS, but great condition, low-mileage examples are hard to find, let alone in a price range I could afford. But when I found a first-generation example with a known service history (yours truly was the service advisor) and a low price...too good to pass up, and I get a less common sight of a car in the bargain.

My wife and I wanted a CR-V, got one. When we realized the 4WD system was not an
"on-demand" system (some people didn't like the way the Real-Time 4WD kicked in automatically), we just saved our money.

The Corolla was a hand-me-down, since my Neon was destroyed. Better than nothing!

I wanted a 2-door Neon R/T, but even standard 2-door examples were impossible to find by the time I was in the market for a new one (late-1995). Heck, all that remained in the tri-county area were a few Base models (white and light blue), some red and white and 4-door Highlines, so I forked over for a 4dr Flame Red.

I bought more than I expected when it came to the Talon; I was in the market for a 1 or 2-year-old Ford Escort GT (terrible resale value meant not a bad little car for the money at the time), but found an older Eagle Talon TSi for the same money. Big mistake, but it sure was fun to dirve while it ran.

The Honda Accord was not quite what I wanted, since I wanted an old CRX. The insurance on any 2-seater was insane for a 17-year-old, so the family car did the job. Had a lot more fun with those extra seats, though!

I sorta-kinda wanted a Mini Cooper S or Acura RSX, but I soon realized that they were way out of my league, even when used. So then I wanted a Mazda 3, and, well, got it. :)

I wanted something RWD so I could use it for drifting, then I bought the Cadillac because every RWD car in the world was uber expensive. Then someone gave me a RWD car for free. So now I have two racecars, and still no daily driver! 👍

Mustang-man
I wanted the Nissan Skyline GTS-4 Dad bought, so before he moved to the USA i bought the car off him.

I still want a R32 GTS-25 manual coupe and GT-R, WILL get them one day but a racecar is my main priority at the moment. On one condition...

...it has to be a Skyline! (yes i'm serious, there's not enough good looking Skylines racing around tracks in this country).
You sir, suck. I hate not being able to have GT-R's for realisitc prices in the US.

I wanted a RB26 swapped 240SX with S15 conversion. I ended up with a 95 Talon awd lol.

Wanted: 1995 Dodge Neon ACR (My father's car, as he was looking at a Nissan 300ZX last year and was this close to buying one).
Got: 1994 Chevrolet S-10 Blazer Tahoe LT 4X4 (My mother's car, which she gave to me when she got her Silverado).
Wanted: 1993 Dodge Shadow (One of my mother's other cars).
Got: A 1971 Winnebago. What the hell am I supposed to do with a Winnebago?! I can't even drive the thing until September when I get my full driver's license.

Wanted: 1995 Dodge Neon ACR (My father's car).
I just sold mine to buy the Bimmer. 1995 ACR sedan, white with grey interior from my wife's old Sport. The guy who bought it turned it into a tarmac hillclimb car.

That little Neon is living proof that the average American car is not less fun to drive than the average European car.

Who was your dad? I was very active in the Neon community between about 1996 and 2001 or so. I used to admin at www.neons.org and I wrote the FAQ there. If he was active on the boards or the Neon mailing list, I probably knew of him.

He bought the car new in 1996 (they hadn't been able to sell it in '95) for a trade in with his Cavalier Z/24. His is black with black interior (same as the car from GT2). He could of bought the R/T, but he didn't like the tacky stripes (he did like the coupe body though). I don't think he was on the mailing list or anything, and I know he wasn't part of any message boards, as he didn't get a computer until last year. In hindsight, I'm sure he probably wouldn't have given me the Neon anyways, even if he had gotten the 300ZX TT, as he loves the car. In addition, everyone in the family who can drive owns multiple cars, so it wouldn't have been odd.

I wanted an 04 Acura RSX-s(after they worked out the tranny issue but before the slight body and design changes)

Ended up with an 02 Nissan SER Spec V. I got this mainly because my old Cavalier blew a headgasket and had over 100K miles on it. So I had to buy a new car NOW. My plan was to buy the RSX after I paid of the cavalier(March 06). OH well.

Now that the spec has all the kinks worked out(been back to the deal 15 times! ) It's actually very fun to drive with more torque then the average pickup truck :) Once I get a few suspension mods on that bad boy, it'll be a great autocross car and sleeper. :sly:

What I really wanted to start out with was my Nova (Chevrolet, Toyota-based, not the Vauxhall)

No-one wants a Vauxhall Nova, it's the car you buy if there's no Saxos in your price range :D

Wanted: Mazda 323f
Got: Mazda 323f 1.5
1144947559607image_1_big.jpg

Our family car (well, practical family car, we use the Audi more) is a Mazda 323F 2.0 V6 (Lantis. I always mention Lantis when refering to it on the internet so as not to get it confused with this black-hole of a car.)
3-4del2.jpg

I can only assume the designers who made Mazda cars good-looking left after designing the 323F Lantis.

On ours, you can tell it's the upmarket version by the dual exhausts, factory spoiler and no rubber door-protectors. :dopey:

I don't think your 1.5 would be making much less power than ours though.

About 140hp from a 2.0 V6 is pretty measly. The boot is cavernous though!

Although, the green interior:tdown: although I have gotten used to it.

Wanted:Some form of decent transport
Got:Nissan Sunny, which I broke. Twice.
Then: Killed myself

It's actually very fun to drive with more torque then the average pickup truck :)

Either it's modded or you're off your rocker - only one pickup on the market has less torque, the 2.3-liter Ranger, and whether that vehicle is actually in production could be a thread topic on its own!

Possibly Swift meant torque-to-weight ratio...

Hey, ultrabeat, that black-hole of a car is my cousin! Grrrrr....

For my first car, all I wanted was a 1988 Dodge Daytona Shelby Z, like my uncle had when I was a kid. What I ended up with was a 1988 Dodge Daytona Shelby Z with T-tops. After I got it though, and it was nothing but trouble, all I wanted was something else.

CAMAROBOY69
Heck yes you did. The 98 Trans ams are a lot nicer than the 94-97 Camaros. Plus you got the LS1 instead of the LT1. 98 Trans am is another one of my favorite cars. Hopefully you got the ram air. :dopey:

Yea it was a little more pricey but I like it more now. I wanted a WS-6 one but the were all runnin around $10,000 or more for good condition ones, so I got just a regualer TA for $7,900 with only 87,000 miles.

My plans for it are:

Get functional WS-6 Ram-Air hood ( found it just need some more money )
Repaint it in the red its already in and possibly with some black ralley stripes
Replace the suspension
Replace the aftermarket exhaust with another one, the one on it has a hole in the muffler and is just old so I want to get a better one
Get new rims, the 16" are just too small I would rather some 17"s or 18"
and maybe a few other engine mods if I still have the car after all this

Haven't gotten anything yet, but several cars have caught my interest from time to time. Started out wanting a SN-95 Mustang GT, then started considering (no particular order) either a Focus, 300ZX (NA r32), MKII Supra, and several others. Then I decided to go back to the Mustang, but would settle for a V6....but when I got the money for that, I talked myself into a 5.0 Fox Mustang (which bluebooks about the same as the newer V6 anyway)...and not long after that, I decided I didn't need a car very badly at the moment, so I'd just wait and get a 5.0 SN-95 Mustang like I'd originally planned (4.6 if the price is right). Right now I'm trying to decide if I care about discriminating between a GT or GTS (guess I'll have no choice if I can get a GTS in active red paint...only 25 made, apparently...yeah, fat chance) :p

The only thing that's really changed, is that I wasn't open to a manual tranny at first (I've never actually driven one, heh), but I think I've decided that's what I'll get...

However, If I miraculously fall on a large sum of money, I'll hunt down an R34 GT-R :p

Let's see,

1st car
Wanted: Cheap/reliable daily driver, Civic/CRX etc.
Got: Mazda MX3. Torquey little V6, fun to drive, Everyone in the world doesn't have one, but Famine does.

Wanted: Something with a turbo. Rover Tomcat or R32 GTS-t
Got: '92 Subaru Legacy GT.

That's been written off now, so I technically have no car, but I'm driving my dads GT-B wagon, so life is peachy again.
