What do non-Australians think about the Ford Falcon XR8 V8 Supercar?

I don't have this car in GT5, but I have used it in GT4, especially to win the 24 Hours at the Nürburgring. Yeah- Aussie muscle rocking Germany's legendary Green Hell. It is a very potent racing machine for its class. Again, I don't have this in GT5, but I've respected the Falcon XR8 V8 Supercar since its debut in GT3.

Great sound, great car. Need more current V8's though. Throw the Ute's in while your at it!

I love Aussie muscle and I love Australia so I think the answer is obvious. :p I miss the FPV GT from GT4, that was one cool car!

I've always been impressed with how much you can throw it into corners and have it still stick and be stable, all the way back to GT3. There are only a handful of cars with similar PP that are as friendly as it is.

The funny thing is, that it isn´t in real life......oh ok, not really funny, but strange.

There's a funny joke about Aussie muscle.

Some people over here stateside consider Australian muscles cars to be the last great "American" made thing.

the way that 20 something year old kid was throwing it around and drifting a V8 around his cool down lap, im starting to think the snake bite reputation that these cars have isnt so true. ther like powerful escorts lol..

Maybe, but if you watch TV-races or the behaviour in iRacing, I think the cars earn their snake bite reputation.

The Ford Falcon is beautifull car! An amazing combo of agility and speed. When I took it for a spin on the Top Gear test track (The very track I use to test handling ^^), WOW, 1:11 in racing softs, the car surpassed my expectations for a Touring Car racer. It felt absolutely delicious the way it handled tough corners like hammerhead and gambon, it absolutely flies!

And luckily for me, SPEED channel latinamerica transmits the V8 Supercar championship, thus, I have the joy of watching the premier GT of Down Under, great stuff!

Question though, I am awares that down under, there is an intense rivalry between fans of both Holden and Ford. I imagine many Holden fans were pissed as hell seeing the lack of any Holden Super V8's no? ^^

i think iRacing confirms their more docile temper, the Stang and the V8 are the only cars u can step out and have a prayer to get back Inline. i think even the solstice is harder to get back once you get it out, even tho it takes alot to get it outta shape.

i wish the falcon just had more things to race. its pretty much in a class of its own.

But if you compare the GT5 V8 Supercar, the Falcon runs like on trails. It´s like it has glue on the tires and you can´t get it into smooth powerslides or slides out of turns. And it turns in ways too easy for its weight.

Aussies has an animal kingdom of rare beasts, and with cars is the same :D
I envy you deeeeeply... The XR8 is awesome, I'm big fan of V8 supercar.

I always wish that someone in the right mind would bring an Aussie V8 sedan to the States, and it makes me jealous. The Falcon XR8 is okay, I mean not blistering fast.

Love V8 Supercars myself, and wish Speed would show more races (like they used too). As for the Falcon, I've been hoping for years that Ford would bring it back into the NA market. Not to be I 'spose. A side note, I desperately need to finish watching Eric Bana's "Love the Beast"!

Find yourself a 4th generation Pontiac GTO. Despite the arrowhead, it is pure Aussie underneath. Though, it must be said probably not the prettiest car around... which comes back to being in the right mind. But V8 power from a LS1 or LS2 nonetheless! :dopey:

I know about the GTO and the G8 but I haven't seen much for them to be good cars.

I like the Falcon, even if it seems a bit gutless for a big V8. It handles well and looks good. I just wish there was a Holden to race it against, as it's nearest rivals are the DTM or Super GT cars, which tend to be faster.

I've seen a V8 Supercar at Rockingham speedway, it sounded amazing and was definately a Holden design (I think it's known as the Clubsport). In Britain it's known as the Vauxhall VXR8 but for some reason this one was badged as a Chevrolet.

Yep the UK get the HSV version (far superior big brakes, better suspension) and the USA gets the plain jane holden SS (still the best budget rwd chassis on the planet).

I wish V8 supercars would use the current roadcar engines Holdens 6.0 SS and Fords 5.4 xr8, they are still using 5.0L engines in both that they haven't sold in roadcars since the late 90's.

I really love that Falcon! It's a true beast I got it when it was half price with zero miles, got it for my Aussie collection but boy that car can haul! :D

Man I wish that the US could get more of these beast like the FPV Typhoon, GT, Holden VXR Morano(though it is known as the Pontaic GTO in the US :D) but I want the VXR included also and the Falcon those cars are fantasic! :(

As a American I have to say that you guys are lucky! And that's great also! 👍

The Ford (FPV) now use the Supercharged 5.0 from the Mustang and reportedly hauls ass!

P.S sorry double post :ouch:

I basically see it as the love child of a European Touring car and an American NASCAR car. (Well, pretty much a touring car with an American-sourced V8).

I'm American, and I must agree. Its such an incredible mix honestly. I wish they had the newer ASTC cars though. . . As well as the competitor cars to what we have now, the Falcon. We need more cars from down under. . . Period.

I think the Australians should feel proud for having these wonderful cars!

Why thankyou very very much! :) 👍

Its a shame the Falcon is going to end up front wheel drive during the next couple of model changes...

The Holden Commodore is staying true to its rear-wheel drivetrain though! :)

It's part of the whole Make-all-Ford-family-sedans-a-Taurus Plan

Only if Holden keep making Commodores. GM is having a big political push to build more cars in America. After the money the Government lent them, it's hard to push in any other direction.

Older Holden and Fords, plus Valiants would be awesome.

The Falcon will be non existant over the next few years wont it? I thought they were discontinuing the line.

It is a pity there arent many Aussie cars in the game, Also a pity there arent any Aussie tracks like the Mount in the game. Would be fun racing around the Mount in Aussie V8's with your mates online.

If they could have taken the time, used to record all the horns and put them in the game, and instead make a new model commodore and falcon, and added bathurst, the game would be atleast 50% better.

I would be so happy if there were holden and ford in= 1 of each group C, 1 of each group A and 1 of each current VE and FG v8 supercars. well really I want all the Aussie racing cars theres so many monsters GTHO I II III, XU1, L34, A9X, XA XB XC XD XE, I could just go on and on like this lol.
I wonder what they will do with V8 supercars when the falcon is gone? perhaps thats why they quietly sold off the series a few months back.
