I Matty R I
I'm sitting here going over my usual routine when I get online when I thought of something. I always do the same thing when I get online. I stick to the same websites that I enjoy. I don't venture off, and when I do I end up at places I know about already. So, I've asked myself,

"What does everyone else do when they're online?"

When I'm online, I...

MySpace/Facebook
GTPlanet
YouTube
Ebay
Craigslist
Bank account
Google
IGN
Full Tilt Poker
Ebaumsworld
Newgrounds
MoFunZone

(In no particular order.)

If I'm not asleep, I'm online, so I do a lot. I IM all my friends, get on Gmail, GTP, Myspace, Facebook, Macrumors, InterfaceLIFT, deviantART, YouTube, Wikipedia, and digg. Those are just the things I do every day without fail. I also listen to music, but I do that offline too.

If I have a bit of free time, I periodically rotate between GTP, Giles’s forum, MacThemes, MacNN, Facebook, and YouTube. If I have an enormous amount of free time (which I don’t have much of lately), I’ll go on IM. And in between everything, I check my RSS feeds, which I’ve designed to be sufficiently diverse such that I find lots of interesting content or news that I wouldn’t find within the small set of forums that I stay in.

  • Gmail
  • Google Reader
  • GTPlanet
  • giles-guthrie.com
  • OzMazda Club
  • MySpace

Lather, rinse, repeat.

If I’m bored I’ll go to YouTube and occasionally TuckerMax. But those stories are never quite so funny once you’ve already read them.

1. GTPlanet. I usually just check my subscribed threads, but if I have more time I'll browse around.

2. cox.net. Check e-mail, delete and reply to messages, and that's it.

3. Woodwind and Brasswind. Check on the instruments I've written reviews for and see if anyone else has found them helpful. If I have more time I'll browse around and see if any prices have changed.

That's what I normally do, and the bare bones version takes about 10 minutes. But if I have more time then I'll go to some flash game sites and browse for good games. If I have even more time, I'll usually go to eBay or Half.com and search for stuff. Or I'll go to autotrader.com.

:-)

Naturally, this makes me a "racist.") Not really a big loss since this place is owned and run by Anti-gun, anti-hunting, anti-freedom-of-speech Liberal-doucebag idiots and I was getting sick and tired of them objecting every thread topic that went against their personal beliefs and opinion.)

I’m confused as to why so many people check their email using webmail – doesn’t anybody use desktop clients? They’re so much more convenient. (And now that Gmail uses IMAP, there’s almost no excuse to not use a desktop client.)

I use Thunderbird, but I don't have it at work and linking the college e-mail up to it is a pain.

Gtplanet
Gamespot
MSN
University Mail
Hotmail

Cant really remember the others...

I dont use email clients because I really cannot to bothered to set them up plus they take up resources... loading up firefox for everything is just easier...

I use Thunderbird with IMAP (where IMAP is possible). I've got 3 email addresses that I use regularly (1 personal, 1 professional, 1 university) so it's much easier to handle and organize that way, as opposed to visiting 3 different sites to get it done.

It's easier and quicker to click my Gmail bookmark than it is to launch an app.

*myspace
*GTP
*gmail
*ehowa.com
*spokanethunder.org
*dci.org
*youtube

Always the first three first, then everything else in no particular order...but always there.

Um, what? :p You don’t launch and quit a mail client each time you check your mail; you leave it on all the time, and when you get new mail, it alerts you.

I suspect that 90% of the people who don’t use desktop email clients have never even tried it. Once you use it, you realize how annoying webmail is.
