its good, but if you want to make em like pro quality, i recomeend you go for Final Cut Express. Its pretty expensive, but if you like video editing, then it is for you.

I use something by Ulead. It came with my firewire card for free, and its pretty good, just not many options when it comes to compression.

Windows movie maker is good for simple tasks, but if you want to add stuf like text, or some really flashy borders, you should look elsewhere.

Another program people around me have used is Adobe Premiere, and I hear good things about it, but never tried it myself.

pixela....

sucks though when it comes to audio. you cant cut or edit any audio. you have to plug it in that way. and each time you want to preview you have to wait a really long time.

Premiere.. pretty close to vegas, but 3x better.
HAHAHAHAHA..... You are mistaken my friend.........

Vegas blows Premier way out of the water. It has way more features, plugins, etc..........

BTW, I use Vegas, Premier, and Windows Movie Maker (for one lap simple vids)........

I would suggest using Windows Movie Maker, if you just want to make simple vids......... Check out the vids in my sig.... They were all made with WMM..........

I have Pro, and I have the latest version of Vegas. Vegas is just a better program IMHO.

Vegas is more intuitive than premiere, if I had the chance to take the time to figure out how to use premiere properly I think it would produce better results. It's like comparing Paintshop pro to photoshop.

Not at all. I use, and understand both. If you really know how to use Vegas, it can produce anything you can possibly want. Don't get me wrong, Premier Pro is a good program, I use it all the time, but IMHO Vegas is a much better all around program.......

Must just be me then, I can use Vegas pretty well. But when it comes to Premiere I can't even do something simple like crossfading. Although another good thing about Vegas is that it is made by the same people who make soundforge, so you the two apps are cross compatible audio/video editing.

That's funny, because I am interested in knowing why you think Premier is soooo much better than Vegas.......

You seam to think that Premier is leaps and bounds better, when there really isn't a big enough difference to consider it so much superior. I don't think Vegas is incredibly better than Premier, but it's enough to warrent my aproval over Premier.....

The interface is better IMHO, and as Mista Y stated, all the soundforge apps are controlable from within Vegas...........

When it comes down to it, I am just able to create a better production, faster with Vegas, then with Premier.... So, I tend to lean more towards Vegas.... It's just better........

Although last time I did a big compilation video, I found that Premiere was allot easier to use for cropping sections of video. So I just used Premiere for the trimming and then bunged all the clips into Vegas and applied transitions/fades. In foresight it sounds like a kinda crappy idea.

Same thing with premiere. You can do anything you want.

I think cross fading is about the easiest thing you can do with premiere IMO. In fact you can do any sort of cross fading you want. It just has so many options and settings.

PINNACLE STUDIO 9 W0OT
IT CAME WITH THE $2000 SONY VAIO
BUT I DONT THINK YOU WANT TO SPEND $2000
JUST FOR SOFTWARE AND A TVCATURE CARD AND A 200GB HARD DRIVE

premiere is just for the basic edits... you use adobe after effects for the more complex stuff cause after effects owns vegas and it can make 3d stuff and all sweet intros and do alot of stuff vegas cant plus there millions of plugins for after effects.

i like premier.. but it i think i need more memory.. my computer seems to lagg alot with premier.. so i used pinnacle studio 8 on my last video.. pretty simple, easy to use, and effiecient.
