To get gold on those bloody AMG Academy time trials? I can't even do it on beginner, never mind anything else. I've tried going as fast as possible without going off the road but I'm always at least 3 seconds off the gold time. Is it physically possible with a DS3 controller????
As for getting gold on the Grand Tour Rally event with the Focus, forget it. I've managed 1:56.5 so far and gold is 1.54. No idea where you're supposed to make up 2 1/2 seconds......

Just keep on driving!

I thought at first that the AMG was to hard for me because of the length of the track, but after doing a couple of laps, let say 30, you will find the places where you can gain serious time....

With the rally i just cant help you, i got it gold the first time :P

I've got gold in all the AMG academy with the DS3, the ones in the rain I found easiest, as the times were a bit more forgiving. Some of the others I had to do a few times to get gold and I only beat them by a fraction of a second, and others I beat by a few seconds.
Maybe you're pushing too much, and need to try and enter the corners a bit slower or brake a little earlier, so you can put the power on earlier?

Did you look on youtube to see if there is any videos of people getting gold and maybe see where they are gaining the time?

I've done a lot more than 30, I can tell you. I still can't see where I should gain time. Some corners require you to brake, you simply can't decelerate and whiz round the corner at 80mph. Naturally, you don't have your previous ghost car to tell you where you can gain time. Just got to guess.

Well, as my times are inadequate, I'd say it's telling me I'm going too slow rather than pushing too much. When I do push a bit more it's a case of weeeee, look ma, i'm spinning of the sodding track! 👍

You need more laps!

I hated the schleife because of Gt4 driving mission 34, but now i love it, but it took me a while

Maybe you can try to get the GTR trophy, its pretty easy, but it will improve your skills on the schleife

I'm using a DS3 btw.

Nurburgring is far and away my favourite track, I have done thousands of laps on it in GT4 and GT5 but even still I haven't golded them all.
I have gold on most of the AMG events, and silver on a few of them. I use a DS3 just like yourself and, to be fair, if I didn't love the track I wouldn't stick with it. Gold is more than possible with a DS3 - each time I do it I know where I'm losing time. Practice makes perfect etc.
Make sure you have no driving aids on as these will slow you down (aside from SRF if you feel you have to use it).

Sometimes slower is faster, at least for me. Braking earlier make it easier to hit the right point to steer into the corner. The resulting slower corner speed means you can accelerate earlier. Going through every corner with tires screeching might seem faster, but most of the time, it isn't.

What makes you fast is a good line through the corners and early acceleration.

Remember:
Slow is smooth, smooth is fast.

Solid advice, here. I know that, for me, turning TCS off was the magic that gave me an extra 7 seconds on one of those challenges. Before that I had been stuck at silver for a while.
