The topic says the question. With the Ferrari Formula Restriction (FFR as shortened) I mean that you can't use Ferrari Formulas in A-spec or B-spec.
I want to hear other peoples thoughts about it, because I myself found out just moments ago about FFR, when I got my F2007.

In my opinion, the thing is stupid and ridiculous, because why couldn't you use one in races like "Formula Gran Turismo Championship".I think that it would be much better as "Open Wheel Championship" or "Formula Championship", so that you could join there with Ferrari Formulas and FGT. Even though there are races for Ferrari Formula in the seasonal events, I think that they need a bigger role, because people with no internet connection can't access those races.

The thing that I am here trying to tell you is that the Ferrari Formulas are very expensive, but you can't use them anywhere, except the seasonal events and practice/arcade mode.

I don't really care, it doesn't really bother me.

Why put it in the game if you can't race it. I won the F2007 a few months ago, but still haven't driven it, because I can't race it. I have no desire to buy the F2010 for the same reason.

It is retarded how you can use the X2010(which breaks the game) but you can't actually use a decent car.

Maybe there's a license stipulation that the Ferrari F1 cars cannot race with anything but themselves.

+1 seems yet another random omission and an expensive one at that!

Well the Formula GTs are much faster than the Ferrari F1s anyway, are they not? So it wouldn't make any difference if you could enter them into the Formula GT championship.

I don't really care. It's cool that there are F1 cars in the game, but it's not what I play Gran Turismo for.

I believe the reason you can't mix the F1's on the grid with other cars is because of certain license issues.

I agree, but I can't control a FGT, because I have a controller pad. (Well it's not a reason, but I might be able to beat the FGT championship with a Ferrari Formula)

The bigger deal is the online restriction to me. Though they should both go, barring license issues of course.

Also, the F10/F2007 are faster than the FGT.

i think PD should add a formula series in the future

The Ferrari F10 was the third premium car I purchased and I was very disappointed to find out I couldn't use it in A or B-spec as well as online (without the F1 only option).

I wonder how they'd fair in the Formula GT races. I personally think that Ferrari made PD do it when they found out the fastest car in the game would be a Red Bull.

I wonder why you aren't allowed to use the F1 cars online without a special restriction, whereas anyone can use their X2010's:dunce:

This restriction is one of the things I hate the most about GT5. REMOVE IT! You can't even race them against each other in split screen mode and it would be nice to race them against the FGT, or bring them to a 1/4 mile drag online.

In a straight line you are correct. But the Ferrari F1s have far more downforce (200/150 vs 90/70 I believe) so they corner much faster, and they have better handling.

I'm faster round Monza in the F2007 than the FGT. FGT's handling just seems too unpredictable.

Maybe there's a license stipulation that the Ferrari F1 cars cannot race with anything but themselves.

This is the most likely reason with Ferrari (TM) being the automotive Disney (TM) and extremely protective of its brand and products (or in combination with FIA licenses, since Ferrari (TM) has a unique exclusive agreement about licensing their F1 cars, potentially creating a legal mess), that doesn't however exclude a specific A-spec event for Ferrari (TM) F1 cars only.
Especially since they did exactly do that in the Seasonal Events recently, maybe these legal reasons weren't solved until recently.

i think PD should add a formula series in the future

As mentioned above, the Seasonal Events are probably the closest we're gonna get to a separate A-spec Ferrari (TM) F1 series in GT5 I think.
At least we can race them online and the ability to only race them against each other makes sense, in fact limiting the X2010 in the same way would also make a lot of sense (although that would exclude it from entering endurance races, etc. which wouldn't be appreciated by a lot of people).

Another thing which could possibly limit a dedicated Ferrari F1 series might be that there are 2 different F1 models which can't be raced against each other needing 2 different fields of AI cars in A-spec.
Maybe they were only able to do this in the online Seasonal Events, or the F2010 could be a very late addition and they couldn't incorporate that in the existing F1 events and just decided to exclude both (for the sake of consistency, how ironic) and go for their own FGT instead.
Or, and most likely, there's a completely different unrelated reason....

Ha

It has to be this. I also think it might not be Ferrari as much as F1 controlling the license for the whole series (i.e. F1 game)

It would be nice to be able race them against Formula GT tho, and maybe that could be possible since the FGT is a fake car.

It is retarded how you can use the X2010(which breaks the game) but you can't actually use a decent car.

Agreed. I don't think they really thought it through. Maybe they will fix it so we can use the Ferrari in A-Spec/B-Spec in an upcoming update.

Exactly. It can't be argued that the F1 cars are disallowed because of how awesome they are because they still allow the X2010, which nothing else can touch with a thirty-foot pole.

Maybe there's a license stipulation that the Ferrari F1 cars cannot race with anything but themselves.

That's fine. They can still have races exactly like that, with just the Ferrari F1 cars. No problem here.

Why put it in the game if you can't race it. I won the F2007 a few months ago, but still haven't driven it, because I can't race it. I have no desire to buy the F2010 for the same reason.

Yeah, it's like giving a kid a fancy toy but then telling him that he can't open it or play with it. All he can do is look at it through the clear panel on the front of the box and imagine what it would be like to play with it.

If you can't use a car in A or B spec mode then I don't consider it as a "car" and should not be included in the overall list of "cars". Its a stupid restriction might as well not even have it in game.

I currently think exactly like this. The formulas is somewhat pointless if you really can't use it much. Although I love them, they still feel like toys, because you can't use them anywhere. I mean that you can still use X2010 and FGT there, which have even more PP.

It is a license issue. I think that Codemasters have the F1 licence exclusive. If ylu allow an F1 car to race on a track with other cars that would be by definition an F1 race, and would put Sony in hot water. Ferrari has some special aggrement with the F1 authorothies about their cars, so that's why it's ok to race other Ferrari F1 cars

The Formula GT car shouldn't have been in the game IMO. It was only a good addition to GT4 and GT3 because there were no real F1 cars.

The F2007 and F10 should have had their own championship at the end of the "Extreme Series" events where only the Ferrari Formulas are allowed to compete. They wouldn't be competing against anything else, so surely that wouldn't have breached any licensing agreement.

Oh good point. But maybe it is possible to avoid these like f40 (see above) said?

What do I think? It sucks... and a lot... Like somebody said earlier, it's stupid to allow the X1 to be used everywhere in A-Spec mode while the two F1 Ferraris collect cyberdust in our garages... 👎

"I can't use them anywhere," you are dead wrong here, as you can use them in practice mode races, the F1 seasonal, and online. Why would you want to line the F2007 up against gt cars? Also I don't know about you, but I havn't played A spec in nearly a month, so unless you like to repeat races in A spec it really makes no difference.
