What do you think?

the best car you have or can get makes the race easiest but if you want to make it challengeing then use one of the cars that is already in the race with out any upgrades

I wasn't taking notes at the time I ran that series, but I believe I tried it in a 400+ hp Evo VI RS. If I recall correctly I was able to win the series on points but I had to go back with my Camaro racecar to mop up a gold or two, though.

I could be mistaken but I think that's how it played out.

Wait a second...Camarro Race Car? You don't get that till the Ameatur races (that how you spell it). I don't much think 400 HP could win against those cars though.

I got the Camaro race car as a prize for running the Seattle enduro, well before I finished up the Beginner League.

The Evo was about 430 hp, and well built otherwise - equivalent to a rally car. Like I said, it was enough to win the series on points, but not enough to gold all the races. In fact, that's what I used to beat the Seattle enduro against the Viper and the Cobra.

i, too, used an Evolution VII (fully tuned).
i was going to save my money and just win with a well-tuned suspension & 350hp, but i went and blew it all on turbo.
made the whole thing easier, and now i don't have to buy one.
(a turbo)

How do you win a race with points? And what are points anyway.

So you guys just bought that Enduro car to make it challenging!? I can barely do it much less make it challenging. I have a Mitsubishi 3000 GT (fully upgraded with everything), a Dodge Viper GTS (fully upgraded with everything), and a Mustang Cobra (same). Even with those cars that race is still hard to me.

10 pts for 1st
6 pts for 2nd
4 pts for 3rd
3 pts for 4th
2pts for 5th
1pt for 6th

The driver with the most pts at the end wins.
I remember I used a Mustang SVT for that series, can't remember how much HP though, but it was not fully upgraded. Maybe had a 2nd stage NA Tune. Yours should be able to kill the competition after some practive if it's fully upgraded.

I used a Lancer Evo VII GSR, pumped up to around 560hp (max tuning). Remember to get the better brakes and a brake balance controller. If you have the controller, take a notch or two off the front and put a notch or two on the back. That'll make the back slide out better for tighter corners, otherwise she'll handle like a brick on ice. And SS Route 11 will be impossible.

Yeah I know what you mean. I set front AND back to level 24 (the highest you can go) I think my 3000GT would do fine I just cannot get the hang of it!

Nah, that's not the way to do it. It's about balance and fine adjustment! It's for introducing bias into the braking to affect cornering. The base is 10 front and 10 back (I think). Make it either 9 front and 11 back or 8 front and 12 back. Too much at the back and the car will be uncontrollable. You have too much on front and back, no idea what that would do, but you not getting the hang of it would seem the likely outcome!

Oh yeah (forgot to include it in last post sorry), can you just win the whole thing by doing it over and over and over?

You can only win the whole thing by entering the series and seeing it through to the end. You don't have to win all the races, you just have to have more points that anyone else. I won it with 7 wins, 2 seconds and a third (should have been 8 golds, but it was the last race and I just had to finish, I was tired and made a few mistakes). Come back later with a better car and nail those golds as single races.

meaning that you have a car with around a 1000 hp??? just make sure that you have the max grip which you can get with that car and you'll be fine.

Can I make a sincere suggestion? I'm honestly not trying to be a jerk or anything.

Why don't you guys take a little time to learn how to drive before you jump into a 1000-hp beast and expect to tame it? I bet the reason you are finding this race challenging is that you spend half your time pasted to the wall.

There is a reason the game starts you out at the Beginner level with less powerful cars. Take reasonable cars and learn how to win by driving well. Learning how to do it the right way will help you wring the best performance you can out of the supercars later in the game.

Learn what you're doing by making small adjustments, a little at a time, rather than maxing everything right away. Change something; see what it does; then change something else.

Cranking everything up to 11 is not the answer.

I agree, that's why I used a Lancer Evo VII GSR at about 500hp. I am not familiar with the 3000GT (except that it gave me some close races earlier in beginner).

Some of us take the careful approach y'know. Concentrated on licence tests first, went through the beginner prety much in order (not done Legend of Silver Arrow after choking on the cost of new Mercs - I might pick one up later on in the game then come back). Served much of my apprenticeship in the Silvia you win early on. Did my first endurance (roadster non-tuned).

So I'll duck, avoid your tar brush and disassociate myself from the "you guys" tag if you don't mind ;)

Well, sure, the statement above isn't directed at anybody who doesn't do that...
:smilewink

Tuning Tip: "Slamming" cars is the absolute worse thing you can do... there are exceptions, of course, such as some cars being lowered all the way, but otherwise it is unwise to just go to the highest/lowest settings...

Another tip... taking a road car over 500HP is like overclocking your computer's CPU, if you don't know what you're doing it'll only lead to disaster and make your job a lot harder than it needs to be. Remember that horsepower is only part of the formula, and not the only part.

(Gotta go, Thunderbirds is on.)

THUNDERBIRDS?! You mean the puppettoon like Captain Scarlet?! Where?

I used to have a TON of the Thunderbirds Corgi models...

If you've got TechTV, it's on at 3:30 and 6:30 on weekday afternoons. They also put little facts and such on the bottom of the screen as the episode goes along.

Did you know Lady Penelope's Rolls-Royce is bulletproof, can go 200mph and has special shock absorbers for the front four wheels? Now that's a car that needs to be in GT4! :gcar:

Actually, I practiced plenty and I have already did licenses up to IA. I played with the gears, and I just messed up on the brakes...Can you rant at me for that? I didn't just jump into the game. I did fine with that Mitsubishi non-tuned which was about 276 HP, and I just gradually got it to go faster. I didn't do it all at once, which is what everyone is thinking that I did.

Ah, I see. Glad to hear it. Acute Excessive Poweritis Syndrome is a common affliction of the GTP crowd.

And Delray - COOL! Thanks for the tip. I don't think I have TechTV but at least it gives me something to look out for if they add it to my cable service.

Well it looks that you already have a few more than capable cars. All you need to do is downgrade one of your cars (power-wise) and concentrate more on the car's handling, which I am assuming is what you are having problems with. Basically, you could win by sticking soft compound tires on, since the race doesn't involve tire wear. The 3 cars that you mentioned are all heavy, so weight reductions would benefit nicely as well. If you are using the 3000GT, which is a 4WD car, you can buy the Variable Center Differential (VCD), which allows you to control how much torque goes to the front wheels. Set this low to get more power to the rear wheels, which would help in the car's maneuverability and loosen it up to get around the turns easier.

what kind of competition are you up against in this race...i forgot. i remember using a Mustang SVT Cobra, but not fully upgraded and I easily beat it. I think it had about 450HP.

Well dumb me. I used my Viper and beat it (about 6 golds, and forfeited two races cause I got off to a lousy start wrecking horribly or something). ZZ, how many gold's did you have?
