What does everyone think about what the moderators have done about scamming and not dealing with it themselves and letting psn do it?
I personally think it is a good idea but i belive the PSN network will be bombareded with complaints but i guess we will have to see

We're not not dealing with it. On occasions where someone is obviously just trying to rip off our members, we show them the door. But a lot of the time scamming reports are "he said, she said" affairs that we haven't got a hope of dealing with.

If members remembered to back up the saves before a trade, only traded with established members, weren't greedy and tried to remember that if it looks too good to be true it probably is, we wouldn't have anywhere near the amount of issues we do. If they also kept documentary evidence (logs of messages, logs of transfers), we'd be better able to deal with it. "i sent lolripuoff a vettle x12010 an 4 matt grenes an he deleted me an sed he hadnt got them!!!!! BEWARE SCAMMER!!!!" helps no-one.

Trades are conducted at your own risk and by a one-to-one agreement between you and the person with whom you're trading - and they're not even, technically, a feature of the game! Ultimately we're not involved and can only act to protect our members if we are confident that misappropriation can be proven.

Personally I'd like to see a harder stance on talking/discussing/guides on how to "exploit" in the general term outside driving mechanics. I don't like the threads on duping cars, how to, or birthday exploit or savegame "hacking" as in the save, give, restore. But that's just me, i'm sure those that use it extensively have a different opinion :)

How people play their games is none of our concern. Duplicating cars isn't illegal, however much anyone might detest it. There's nothing in the AUP to cover it.

We've had a fairly active hybrid/gameshark forum for several years now, which covers how to modify cars beyond their in-game capabilities in all of the full GT releases to date. If we started deleting all threads and posts about duplicating cars/paint chips/museum cards, we'd have to delete that entire forum.

One of the major reasons why we made this change was because of the sheer number of people who seemed to think that we could get their cars back for them. I can't speak for the other moderators - but I'm pretty sure I answered about 95% of the complaints - but a lot of people seemed to think that our power as moderators extended beyond the boundaries of the forums. It does not. We can only moderate what we can see, and once we're off the forums, we have just as much power over things as you do. Which is to say none at all.

I am not having a go at you moderators personally i think you do a good job at keeping this fourm under raps and clean, i have not come accross a scammer as yet so i guess im lucky :) and everyone on here is trustworthy so far, if everyone is like that there shoulb be no need for banning and ripping people off it is just sad :)

I can imagine, and I dont want to use this term but for want of a better word I cant think of one, that policing this place is a 24 hour a day operation due to the many nationalities that frequent the site. From what ive seen, the mods are harsh but give leniency where needed and thats how it should be. If a few "rapscallians" are let through the net, then thats cos the mods are only human and dont have eyes and ears everywhere. Got to give credit to the guys behind the scenes for without them, this place wouldnt exist..... And I would have to organise trades over Facebook...... And I dont like Facebook :)

Yeah i read through the AUP and found nothing that covers this. I know it's not against the rules and has been common in earlier versions, 'twas just that my personal opinion of the online nature of GT5 that these things are, in lack of a better term "bad, mmmkay". Hybriding and exploiting single player games is a completely different beast :)

I just wonder when we'll see the online time trials saturated with "weird" stuff ;)
