What does an engine rebuild do?

I run Nascars with no tire wear a lot and change oil whenever it will let me. I have a Nascar that has 22,000 miles (886hp) but when I check the engine rebuild it will not restore the hp. What is the purpose of paying 150,000 mil. credits for nothing? What is the purpose of the rebuild if it doesn't restore hp?

Maybe it's just like that on NASCARs? On most other cars I've done rebuilds on, they've gotten more hp.

If your NASCAR has over 22,000 miles it has been losing HP for awhile now. After a certain amount of mileage the car will stop making max HP.

By the way an Engine rebuild on a nascar cost 500k so NEVER do a Rebuild when you can buy a brand new nascar for the same price.

I made that mistake with my first nascar, I spent 1 million credits on engine/chassis rebuild and then realized how stupid it was when i could have bought 2 new cars from the dealer.

Are those online miles?

A quick break down. When you buy a brand new car from the ocd or ncd or any car from a ticket you do not have maximum power from the motor. You have to go through the engine break on process. I always go ay least 200 miles and then change your oil. You will now be at your maximum power out put.

Now the more miles you put on the motor the more you will loss horsepower, that's where oil changes come into play. After a certain mile mark you will begin to lose power that an oil change will not replace. That's where a rebuild comes into play.

If you are racing online with tire ware off it will not put miles on your car. This would be why your at 22,000 miles and never needed a rebuild.

Yes a rebuild will add horse power. If there's very little engine wear the gain is the same as an oil change. I bought a second hand E type Jag Coupe with 300,000+ miles on it. Rebuilding the engine added a lot more BHP than an oil change.

The point about check how much a new car is (If available!) before rebuilding is a good one.

Engine rebuild enables you to gain HP unrecoverable from Oil Changes. My UCD Pescarolo Hybride gained 10+hp after an engine change.

It's an expensive oil change. Changing your oil will restore as much horsepower as doing an engine rebuild.

Not true, rebuild will more often than not give more hp, check in the text box at bottom left before doing it.

It lasts longer than oil change too I think.

After 15,000 miles your car will lose hp that is unrecoverable, always buy used cars that have less than about 10,000miles so you at least have 5,000miles at full power!

Yes, with tire wear off except when I was breaking it in.

I always change my oil first because it gains about 40hp and then break the car in online with tire wear and change the oil if it lets me every night.

If I remember correctly I started losing irrecoverable hp at 7500 to 8000 miles. I now have 22,000 miles on the car and have checked the rebuild weekly to see if it will add hp and despite the high price it won't help my hp.

Interesting! Can anyone confirm this? Does this mean if I race a few races with tire wear on that I will be able to do the rebuild and gain my hp back?

P.S. Thanks for all of your replies. It would be nice if an expensive engine rebuild would restore all the hp just like in real life. This is another one of those common sense fixes the game needs.

By racing online with tire wear off it does put miles on the car, but it does not put miles on the engine is what I ment to say.

I know I spent three hours in a daytona room trying to break a car in but the room setting disabled tire wear, never even gained a single horsepower. It put miles on my car but didn't do anything for the engine.

I usually dump my cars after 10000 miles and seek lower mile replacements.

The engine rebuild restores the cars power to its original state, except in cases where you have suffered permanent power loss, e.g. high mile cars.

I only tend to do rebuilds on UCD cars, it can make a big difference, but keep a look out for 0 miles cars in OCD if it's something I use a lot.

With premiums, as mentioned above, it's best to compare rebuild cost with buying a new car.

The engine rebuild is for engines that have a lot of miles on them causing them to lose power. If you run seasonals, career mode, or tire wear on in online lobbies; the car will use oil and wear down the engine. most of the time an oil change is enough to bring the power back, but if you keep using the same car and don't want to break in and retune the new one, this is the way to keep it running at it's best. High mileage UCD cars are where you need to do these.
If the engine rebuild doesn't restore your original power... the engine is just tired and you need a new car. My RX-7 is getting up there in mileage and I have already begun breaking in a new one.

Just because the option is available, it doesn't mean it's required. Just like in real life... you can get an oil change whenever you want but you don't always need to buy one.... if it's not needed then don't do it.
