i think it actually has a meaning, though it hasnt been explained yet. in the manga, i think ryousuke says that there is meaning behind the name(or atleast project D), but he hasnt told anyone it.

Initial D has been mentioned in the forum quite a few times so I dont beleive its a bad question.

Initial D is a popular street racing anime ( japanese cartoon) about a Tofu delivery driver who becomes a great mountain pass drift racer.

"Initial" is like your middle initial, designating the first letter of your name. D is the actual initial. D, obviously, stands for "drift".

Initial D and Gran Turismo don't mix, so post in the right forum next time.

D means the average grades you'll need on your report card inorder to like it. Though, I could be wrong.
