I have seen many threads and arguments about what LSD does. I want to know about intial, accel, and brake. I drag a lot on Indy and I was wondering what it truly does so I can see if I can be better. I want to have a clear understanding. Like what would happen if you set i really low or really high the pros and cons. And the best setup for a 4wd skyline to drag on Indy.

essentally nothing for drag racing.
It sets the speed at which the tachometer climbs from idle. high number it moves fast, low numbers slow. Since youre already at full throttle when you start a drag race it dosent really matter. Ive changed it diffrent times with no change in my 1/4 mile time at SSRX.

It does nothing for draging. Everyone says 60 60 5 because 2 involve accelerating and other for braking so naturally people set them accordingly when in reality it only changes how a car enters and exits corners.

So i do not have to play around with it and I could just leave it default as it will not make me faster anyway on the drag strip?

If you have SSRX, put your car in automatic and play with it. Trial and error

Despite what Slashfan says (and he is correct) i'm pretty sure I've seen LSD make a .001 difference (pretty sure it was the Aventador) but again I'm not positive on both of those points

So what should my LSD be?
And what are the things that I should tune for dragging. There is the suspension, transmission, I thought LSD was one but I guess not. Should I have downforce on spoiler and what should be my torque split be for a skyline. Oh yeah and does toe and camber really help from bouncing off the rev limiter if not is there anything that does?

Like I said, I always set my lsd to 60 60 5. So thats my recommendation

Suspension, transmission, ballast, aerodynamics, LSD, all come into play.

Use a spoiler on MR, FR, and 4WD cars with mid-to-high Horsepower

For a skyline, (and most 4wd cars) use a 45 / 55 split

Toe and camber helps a ton with traction. but not on a skyline. 0.0 for all toe and camber on your skyline.

Where should I put my ballast? I use a 50/50 split and if I use a 45/55 split I tend to get less traction. Is that maybe because of the way that my transmission is setup? And do you think that toe and camber would help an evo?

Whoa!

Dont put a ballast on your skyline, lol. Thats primarily for FF cars. I was just saying, its something that you need to utilize when you tune your cars 👍

You should be getting much more traction with 45 / 55. Yes it is your transmission that needs work. Make sure your first gear is fully to the left. There are a lot of steps involved in making a good tranny, and thats 1 of them. check out this thead https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=248418

and no, 0 toe or camber on your evo as well. I personally dont use it on any 4WD car. but thats just me.

Ok thanks and do you have any good links for other help on tuning for 1/4th or just tuning overall, because I started drag racing just like 10 days ago. Or do you have any tips for beginner drag tuning? Thanks.

Yes

That .001 could be from any number of things. LSD will not make any difference

I can't tell you how many rooms I've been in and people are rambling on how LSD makes a difference... I just keep to myself now lol they all blow me off like who's this guy, after one guy tells someone else to change it and they race there convinced there right... Like there were no other possible factors in that run lol.

No, just no! What the **** would let you think that?

Relax dude.

I don't agree with Dr often but this time he was in the right in responding like that.. If you have no clue (not you Karo) what the LSD does your better off not saying anything rather then making something up that you believe it is.. That is why a lot of people get mad on here.. Lots of misleading information is put on here often causing people to do the wrong thing then get even more mad when they do what they were told and it doesn't work because they were told wrong to begin with.. Lol hope that made sense :)

It makes perfect sense but there's a way of saying that he's wrong. No need to be rude you know

Fixed.

So much ignorance in this thread...:banghead:

sorry i posted at 5am bro, give me a break. but either way no matter its functionality on the track in gt5, or in real life, it makes no difference when drag racing in the game no matter if it is a ff, fr, mr, awd, or rr it will still make no difference. i would say go to the tuning forums and ask what it does and how it works if your curious.

No, just no! What the **** would let you think that?

What would make me think that....
How about having it set to 60 for the inital acceleration and trying to time the start at SSRX and watching it climb sooo fast. Then having it set to 5 and doing the same thing and it climbing much more slowly. So to you all, no im not iggnorant, yes i do know what the LSD does, and for ****s sake just take a sec to relax.

It's exactly the same. You just see what you wanna see, although it actually doesn't happen.

And I guarantee you, I'm incredibly relaxed atm. That's just me mate.
