I think it's to show off your car(s) mostly.

Maybe it backs up your cars online that you want to use on a new save?

I love when people post their own ignorance as fact.... sorry but mis information just pisses me off lol and it seems every thread has a couple guys posting their warped opinions or guesses as thoughts....... takes 1 min of work to find out that when you share a car that it shows up under your profile allowing you and your friends to look at it and let the cpu take it for a demo drive... while you are sharing your xar you can not use it or tune it... just stop sharing and you can use again... the feature is mainly used to show off your prized cars and rare ones............. also you can share bob as well alowing your friends to pit their bob against yours with no racing input

I am under the impression that the shared cars are for your shared driver to drive. There was talk about being able to pit your B-Spec driver against those of your friends to do this you would have to share the driver for online races and surely he will need a car to drive.

EDIT: Never mind I was way wrong.

The "Car Share" feature is for you to share cars with your friends for use in other modes, A-Spec, B-Spec. Same as the "Driver Share" feature. But these features are not active yet as we will get an update this month adding alot and enabling more features.

We better damn well get an update for this, otherwise it is a seriously short-sighted feature, that would have definitely been better left out.

It basically makes the objects useless!
If you mark a car to "Share with Friends" you will not longer be able to drive it.
If you mark a driver to "Share with friends" you will no longer be able to use him in B-Spec.
I found this out last night while playing around with options in the game.
When you do share them, they show up under your profile on the "Community Page".
I don't know what your friends can or can't do with the cars once you mark them as shared, but I know they become unavailable to you.
