No, before the update, people (including myself) have accidentally highlighted the "restart" button while on pause and clicking "X" upon return. And the rest is obvious. I accidentally restarted my 4 hours endurance race on Tsukuba with 1 hour left. So, the new update now enables a confirmation pop up to ensure that you really meant to restart the race, and not just 'accidentally' clicking it.
