Currently most people on this forum are complaining about why they're not getting money and how flawed GT5 is. Another bunch are exploiting loop holes to get more cash and XP. So whatever happened to playing Gran Turismo as it should be played, appreciating the Physics engine and the cars and how each and everyone has a different feel to it. Yes the reward system and AI are flawed as well as the events but GT is always about driving, lets do that instead of driving around in circles.

GT5 indeed the best driving simulation in the market so far. Even so, people want for more, nothing is perfect in the sense of every human.

greed is good :trouble:

I think most of us GT enthusiasts still drive this game as it has to be. Try not to recognize the whining here and you still see that there´s a lot of people thinking the same as you ;)

I am still having fun. I have been trying to learn to drive without assists on. It's been tough but in the end I think it'll be rewarding.

Physics/Sim side is spot on in GT5... nothing to complain about there... :)

The trouble is, the game just doesn't reward fun...I'm addicted to hearing the stupid level up bing, and I know it. Although I have to say, I don't consider repeating the Nurburgring 4h a grind - it's immense fun - just takes up a big chunk of time out of my day.

I suspect the game will be a lot more fun when I get to level 40 and only play it for fun. At the moment I do still regularly leap in something cheap and thrash it round trial mountain/deep forest, but I know it won't get me anywhere useful in experience and that takes a little fun away. It's nice to see the visual representation of reward, and tough when you see "congratulations, you've earned 4000 / 4,000,000 experience" at the end of what was a fun, hard race.

This is what happened to it.

When someone decided that there was a proper way to play it, instead of each individual getting to decide how they could enjoy it in their own way without receiving criticism, insults, or ridicule for doing so, that is when the fun went away.

Imagine the flame wars, if someone decided there was only one proper way to play a GTA game. :indiff:

That's the thing: GT5 is more fun with no assists on, no HUD display, manual gears, a sensible choice of tires and a DFGT. Trying to keep my 787b on the track at Nordschleife while maintaining a quick pace is tense, immersive and fun. Even better when I secure a win.

Currently saving up for a decent 3DTV to add to the fun. 👍

Driving the cars is the fun part. Getting the cash for the cars becomes hard to stomach once you've nearly completed or completed the main A-spec part of the game.

I know right? I once had 13.5 million and I bought another FGT and a few other cars, mainly JGTC cars. I now have less than a million. I'm done buying cars until I get to around 15 million again. Yeah it'll take a long time but I have over 200 cars and only drive at most 10 of them in a given week. I don't need more cars lol. I want to get a F10 so no more spending for me lol. I play this game a lot, mostly online now so I'm depending on remote B spec to get me some cash.

Money is easy to get using the rubber band method. But that does kinda defeat the purpose of the game a little. Ah well.

This game is great. Much fun to be had with some friends online. And there is a great online community. It's not a perfect game but PD are improving it and I'll def be playing this game a while longer yet. More than I can say for any other racing game.

Just like in life/politics, it's the few in the minority with the loudest voices that tend to be heard. Most people do just enjoy the game. (I've enjoyed every minute and still can't wait to turn on my PS3 after the wife goes to bed). I've traded a little, duped a few, and birthday'd a few cars, and now just level up and look for cars I want. Still a blast, and I'm assuming there are a lot more like me out there, we just sit back and read the comments and don't worry about whether anyone thinks I've exploited the game.

And in the words of Bobby Mcferrin - "don't worry, be happy" ?

Haven't complained about the actual game yet, never will!. Love it until the end of time or another GT comes out lol.. now GT Academy is in the EU im in my prime lol

I agree with evryone that the game is very good atleast while it lasted. The fun is kinda over for me because I can't complete the extreme section of A-Spec because of the formula races. That car completely sucks. Also the Endurance section to me is totally the most stupid thing I have ever seen in a game.. I for one will never sit in front of my game for hours like this. I don't like going to the online racing because all I hear is a bunch of swearing and the guys that I have raced with just slam and bang. I know not all are that way but that has been my experience thus far. Now with trading gone and I have reached as high as I can go in the game I guess it will be back to Black Ops or the next racing game that comes out.

set all LSD settings to 5. TCS at 1 and ABS at 1 and use manual if you can.. if your in a corner that requires 2nd gear.. on your exit use 3rd :)

do engine overhaul and body rigidity. DO NOT ADD THE UPGRADE FOR BODY & CHASSIS!!

car should now be more than manageable :D

I will give that a try.. Thanks..

Yep, it's all about the driving for me, too.

After a few months reading all the complaints, it really seems to boil down to this. It's like going to a good restaurant and having a nice meal. Once you've eaten enough, a little dessert is the perfect thing to finish it off. The career mode is the main course, and the updates and driving around having fun with the game are the dessert. But you don't really enjoy the dessert if you're still hungry after the main course. It seems for most that 4 ounces of really good steak isn't enough, and many people then resort to dessert to satisfy the hunger, which doesn't seem to cut it. Even though they liked the steak, now that they're driving home with an empty stomach, they're picking apart the meal because it wasn't satisfying.

They keep complaining because the restaurant keeps sending out a little more dessert. It isn't that they don't want to keep eating, it's that 4 ounces of steak and 6 desserts don't add up to a satisfying meal. The restaurant moved on to desserts way too early, and there needs to be a satisfied feeling about the meal first, before anybody can really enjoy dessert.

Stupid explanation, yeah, but it might be a valid analogy, especially when we hear continued complaining after updates, no matter how good the updates are.

And no, equating GT5 to food doesn't mean I'm a fat guy. lol

It's got to be all about the racing, otherwise the whole game is pointless.

People complain that it's too easy to win the races, but everyone has the option to run on comfort or sports tyres. They can add ballast, and reduce the hp on their cars. Doing this makes the racing closer and more fun. I know that on the track you should drive like you stole it, but I try to remember this my car so I try not to hit the other racers (except in the main straight when it's fun to force an AI car into the pits).

Last week I decided to try some different tracks so I removed GT5 from the PS3 and inserted NFS Shift (Blasphemy I know). I had this on for no more than 10 mins when GT5 found it's way back in.

I love the game, and accept that it is me who can make it fun.

I also really like the historic racing on the latest seasonal events.

Exactly. Maybe if they added more events and challenges with sensible rewards, more people wouldn't have to resort to using exploits.

There is almost nothing left for me to do in GT5 now, just the FGT championship and enduros. So now, I just want to collect cars that I would enjoy driving later on, which is why I auto grind Indy.

Yup, what he said.

I really can't be bothered to dupe or glitch my way to the top. If that means grinding Indy or another race, then so be it. TBH, I haven't really had to grind much. I've only completed the A-Spec races and am now doing the Special Events and B-Spec to acquire the cars I've been missing out on. I'm taking in the whole experience of playing the game, taking advantage of all that GT has to offer.

GT for life! :)

The fun went when PD went away from the economics of the previous versions. GT5 HAS a crap economy FACT. Cars are TOO expensive, not enough races with far too low monetary rewards, to add insult to injury they increase the rewards in one patch then reduce it BACK down a bit later....hello...Mcfly!

The simulation aspect of this game is flawed, wet tyre physics in Aspec is completely ass backwards making wet weather irrelevant. Tyre wear of racing slicks is the same across ALL the tyres, making tyre strategy irrelevant in endurances. No practise sessions, no qualifying, rolling starts almost all the time too.

Rather than slag of people making valid complaints, how about some of you lot show some sympathy and understanding. Just because some of you are blissfully happy with the game does not make it a perfect game. But hey it seems that there's a lot of selfish people here in GTP.

oh yeah not to mention the EVO X STILL weaves slightly in a straight line, been like that since day one (g25 user) and still no fix.

The trouble is, the game just doesn't reward fun

I'll agree with that.
In a different racing game I could set up a one-off race with exact restrictions on the AI with various difficulty levels, select the track, number of laps, damage, etc, and get rewarded for it.

No such luck here. I either do time trials (which I love and do often), poorly balanced practice races for no reward, or pick one of the few A-Spec races and hope that my current desire of track and car type was pre-selected by PD during development.
