I too have no idea what a Sophomore is, except in the University sense (1st year is Freshman, 2nd year is Sophomore).

I finished "school" 7 years ago, and I finished university for the second time 3 years ago. But I've just got a job in a school teaching 11-16yo (Years 7-11 in the UK school system) - although I'm not a teacher, I'm the science technician.

The names are the same in highschool as they are in college. A sophmore is in their second year of highschool, just as a sophmore in college is in their second year. I know how there are differences in the school systems in different countries, so this should help:

Elementary School: 1st grade - 5th grade.
Middle School: 6th grade - 8th grade (sometimes different in certian areas of the U.S.)
Highschool: 9th grade - 12th grade


I too have pretty good grammer in person, but I will usually have some mistakes in my typing. I also have a slight southern Illinois accent, which can throw me at times.

I also have a habbit of putting a run on (three dots) at the end of my posts...
