What happened to DOWNFORCE and RACING HARDS????

Finesse is what it takes. Be smooth and the tires wont bite you. Sudden jerks to a certain direction will make the rear come out on race tires. Because the grip is higher meaning a more responsive front end. Thats how it seems to me!

I have same feeling about racing / soft tyres...many cars are better on sports soft ..once I put them on racing hard they are much more tailhappy and im forced to do some better setup (otherwise its suffering)

Don't know about the downforce and haven't had any problems driving on RHs. Definitely glad though.There is more emphasis online now to running the correct tires instead of RS on everything. Was in an online room for 535pp and the guy was running unrestricted. Wanted to race so put RSs on the Tuscan Speed 6. Didn't feel right and didn't SOUND right.

WTF PD:banghead:🤬🤬🤬🤬:mad::irked:? Why are there cars that should have either adjustable downforce and or just A LOT more of it? Example: Lambo Diablo GT2 (Was a Pre- GT500 Prototype before Audi took over) and the Chaparral 2J (Had downforce adjustment in EVERY other GT). Neither have down force adjustment, yet both are purpose built race cars and should. Also is it just me or are Racing Hard tires ice skates? Everything I put them on drives worse (Less Grip) than street soft. Am I missing something? While I have not driver online yet, this just should not be. Any thoughts?

Well add the Viper ACR to the list of cars that in real life have adjustable aero but not in GT5 nor in GT6. The ACR just doesn't feel like an authentic representation of the real car because of these deliberate oversights. Also in regards the ACR it not only comes showroom stock with adjustable front and rear aero but it also comes with an adjustable K&W race suspension that adjusts height, rebound and compression. It is a race suspension so why do we have to buy a race suspension in game for it???

As for the tires issue Ive noticed some very weird car behavior with the street tires vs race tires. And yes sometimes it feels like the car is much better on street tires. This is with DS3's. Im getting another wheel in a week and Ill test it out and see if its just the twitchiness of the DS3 or a real issue with the game...

It's obvious PD just is never going to get this game sorted out 100%. It may be too big an undertaking for them or maybe just an unwillingness to sort out the small but important stuff.

I really think each car is going to do best on it's stock tires. Took the Corvette ZR1 and ran RHs on them. Not a good result at SPA. Ran with SS and it was great!

RACE CAR that has no downforce
There are plenty of those in real life, especially going back in time. But the issue with the 2J is that the downforce is hidden. PD's simplistic aero tuning page only shows a front and rear downforce value. Downforce doesn't only come from two places and any car in the game that has a "special" method of generating downforce without the usual splitter and front wing have no visible downforce values in the tuning screen.

In GT5 the 2J (And X1) had working fans that you could not see anywhere in the stats, I suspect GT6 is the same.

Also know that fan cars can be very tricky over rough road as the downforce can vary wildly depending on how well sealed the underbody is.

That doesn't sound right, as I've never really heard of road cars doing better on road tires than racing ones.

There is definitely something up. Try it yourself. Stock Corvette ZR1. Track is SPA. SS vs. RH.

I was not referring to the game, I don't have it. I meant in reality. I was saying that your post may be highlighting another issue.

Try fitting race suspension? I suspect that you usually can't just put slicks on a road car in the real world without doing something to the suspension due to the soft nature of road car suspension.

Has anyone tried the Phoenix R8 GT3 on SS tyres?
(Answer to the question your thinking : I'm not at home)

Just makes the car more suicidal at stock weight, more slippery at around 100 Kgs added. GT3 cars are better left with slicks imo.

Just gave it a quick try, Apricot Hill - Audi R8 GT3.

RH = 1.20.2
SS = 1.21.7

Couldn't tell hardly any difference apart from the tyre squeal with SS.
