What happened to tires rubbing the wheel wells?

I remember seeing this in one of Chris's early vids, one with a C63 at Deep Forest. What happened to it?

wat? Tyres never rubbed wheel wells dude. If car is set VERY low, the tyre would protrude out of the guard (a type of glitch I guess) but they never rubbed or smoked.

Actually that was chris driving the car on bald tires, which smoked up a lot trying to get traction. Tires don't rub the wells in GT5 because the suspension never really gets that low to rub under normal circumstances, you'll bottom out far often than ever rubbing wheels in the well while racing.

Why would you want your wheels rubbing the wells anyway?
