This will be the second thread I have posted about the drifting forum looking stupid as hell. Whats going on, were are the mods? the IQ around here is low , That would explain why most of the veterans are leaving.I'll be back when GT4 comes out or maybe i'll start posting today ,I think the forum needs a semi veteran around.

you tell me, man.

this forum has descended back into the dark ages...and i'm not even entirely sure if i spelled that right.

oh well...forumitis.

o well change is never good and everything changes sooner or later so i guess this is how teh forum is going to change unless the mods become more strict on the stuff these noobs post and but o well

I believe change IS good... as far back as I can remember, it's always been like this. Though not at such high of a scale. We had veteran's leave before as well... cudaman, x, imagine, majik, and I don't see pergatory around much. And as for my fellow vets from when I first joined... most of them have decided to wait until GT4 to be coming out. I think what NEEDS to change is the simple fact that the mods need to be stricter, maybe our current mods feel undermanned and maybe they feel overpowered... the GT3 drift community gets bigger by the day and I for one am proud of that.

People who believe in the sport of drifting and want to try it themselves have a great journey ahead of them and I'm sure, just like most people, want to learn it quick... it IS an age of technology afterall. And to learn things quick, you ask a question as quickly as possible. A teacher in a classroom gets a new student in the middle of the year, does that teacher criticize the student because the questions they ask where answered before they got there? I've never seen that for one.

I restate my statement on the mods... maybe there needs to be more specific Drift forums mods to compensate for the influx of new drifters. But hey... that's my opinion.

I agree with Vinkento's first post...when I first joined.. i saw alot of my team mates and surely Battle stage accepted me for MD but i still talk to all its members like ayuminaka13 and nick and sal sometimes when they aren't busy

People don't frequent as often. Big deal. It's a forum, not a staple of life.

The problem with this forum is that (for the most part) the people who post here ONLY post here. All topics go here, and it shouldn't be like that. Just topics related to GT3 drifting should be posted here.

On the first page alone, I see these threads that simply do not belong here:

People feel comfortable talking with other people they share common interests with.. it's a matter of being a community. Although I understand GTP's views on the subject and uses of a forum... I do believe in exactly what I said and that it's easier to talk about stuff with people whome share a common interest.

That is correct, I've been somewhat put into the position of drift forum moderator, and I've been working on it. Bengee was promoted, but it seems school as taken him away. Thio was next in line, but apparently his parents felt he needed to spend more time concentrating on school. There has been a new moderator chosen, but that again seems like it was at the most in-opportune time.

We're working on it, and hopefully the new moderator will accept his position and help clean up this forum. He's also the one that will have a solid say in what happens when GT4 comes out.

I do think that this forum has taken a slight down turn, and I know it needs help. However a moderator stepping in and beating down the masses, isn't the way toi do it. I want a drifter to moderate and direct this forum. As well as direct the upcoming GT4 forum.

I don't post much anymore. I don't know why. I remember back in the day I had like 16 posts a day. I think it's time I make another vid.

I agree with AO , We need a drifter that moderates the drift forum. But SD left at the worst time. It's his choice to leave... BTW Ryen49, welcome back ^^

I didn't see this thread before...

I will indeed be more strict about upholding the rules around here...

Klos.. Whereas I agree with most of what your saying... My thread was hardly inappropriate for this forum... It wasn't just a goodbye but also a message that the forum was getting too out of control... The message was heard and now I am here to do something about the problem... I know you don't have much faith in me, but I am glad to have the chance to prove myself...

Me neither, strange huh?

Ok, we all know that a forum without new members is a very dead forum. So I think it's excellent that lots of new people are coming to the forums. Let's also not forget that drifting itself is fairly new so of course there are going to be huge misconceptions about it.

However, being new is NOT an excuse to disregard the acceptance policy, terms of service or common sense. Nothing brings down a forum quick then 3 threads with the same title followed by two threads with bad grammar and yet another two or three with questions that are asked on the SECOND page of the forum.

What I'm trying to say that any organization and this is an organization, is the strongest when it's growing. But as any other organization, there will be grown pains. To be honest, the pains that we're experiencing right now are very minor compared to what I've seen at other forums. Let's not get down on ourselves, others, or give up. This is the best possible time to get things straight before the Juggernaught that is GT4 is released. Let's do our best to help DA, Silviadrifters and others to make sure our boards are great.

OK, I'll give you that.

I needed more than three threads to help back up my weak point.

I have school, yet i find find time during break and lunch, and mostly after school at home to check out the fourms. The only thing i find hard to do is make time for play GT3.

School has basically taken me completly away from GT3 in general. I believe I'll be back when GT4 comes out though, since Dec seems to be the time and Christmas break is there. Basically school and soccer have both killed my time...AP classes don't help either.

We should try to keep this place up as long as possible, even through gt4 is comeing, we still have a while to go.

But yes, i can see that this once popular thread is losing its great members, and is slowly dieing, its a shame

GT3 Drifiting is on it's way to die slowly...that's it.
GT4 is on it's way...

Indeed... That is just the way of things...

However, we still need to keep the forum running smoothly and efficiently... If we can keep this forum a fun place to visit and keep posts as coherent as possible, we very well could recieve a more broad GT drifting forum, to discuss drifting in all of the games in the GT series...

;)

The perception that this forum is dying is just that...a perception.

Really, if you look at it, this forum is one of the most active at GTP.

GT3 OLR has slowed down everywhere...most of the really great series have been run, some multiple times, and a few great series continue (WRS here and GTBN's Weekly Spot Race).

The record laps and races have been pushed to the limit. Not many folks are willing to put the hours into hot lapping for another few 1/100's of a second. With the exception of the few series still running, and the BC4, most drivers are waiting for GT4.

But I have to believe there is plenty of drifting yet to be done. How many of the hardcore drifters have run the perfect lap? How many have pushed there skills to approach the artistry of the Drifting luminaries?

If an old, midpacker OLR vet can find new value in GT3 by "getting into" drifting at this late stage, is GT3 drifting really dying?

Well even through most of you guys will leave when gt4 comes out, some people like my self wont buy the game right away. So i'll be here, and probably alot of other people.

You're not getting GT4? and who said anything about leaving when GT4 comes out. What SD was refering to is a possible "GT Drifitng" forum not overshadowed by any particular edition of GT. That's how I think it should be now...but that's just me.

Nice post. I'm in the same boat as you.

I've been playing GT3 for years, hot lapped and OLR'ed my butt off way back when and have no interest in really re-living either of those those (though the WRS here is tempting me). So I was in limbo with GT3 waiting for GT4 (GT4p only held my attention for a few weeks last spring) so I decided to work on learning how to "style-drift" for new value in GT3 until I GT4 comes out and the pages are rewritten.

What fun it is and I have noticed my race lap times have dropped a few 100ths here a few 10th there because of it all.

The GT3 drifters are really the only ones who are bringing anythign new anf fresh to GT3...
