Those two are great, but absolutely useless suggestions.

A good response, would have been "A quick search for beginners car would yeild many good answers. I started with a 240SX"

I grow weary of new people asking easy questions, and long time users responding with search for it. This is one of the most learned forums on the net, when it comes to drifting in GT4 and GT3. So lets act like it.

If a new user can't take the time to read through the bold, coloured stickied threads labeled "Read This" then they should be advised to do so. Then, when they have a question in the future, rather than just asking straight away, they'll have learned the information is available already...

What's the point in having stickied threads unless people read them or are directed to do so?

That is very true, and the only reason why I quoted you, is because it was "caught" in another post. The Stickies are the place you start, and you did direct him correctly. However, you were a bit vague on what the link went to.

I can remember when any new member was treated nicely (when deserving), and now, it seems everyone just posts "search"

Ah, Ok. The reason I didn't provide a fuller answer is that I don't drift, so I couldn't give a recommendation

Ah finally, I have thought that for a long time already:tup: Saying "the 240SX is a very good car for example" requires less effort than go search for it yourself and link the thread and say along with it "search".

All Nissan Silvia are my favorite drifters btw:)

Hey "search" is a no offensive (sorry if anyone has been) way of telling someone to look a little harder for topics (I personly know how tiring it can become) that have be gone over, and over again. I shouldn't have quoted amp88, I should have directed supagk appropriately.

MR2 G-Limited, I only feel in love with the Sil80 after I found it in the used section.👍
Edit:to bad its the ugly 240SX ver. I prefer the real Sil80:

In stead of the Sil40 in gt4 lol.

My suggestion is probably a bit unusual, but Honda NSX is a great drift car. Mod it to about 335hp. Very balanced, and ez to drift.

I recommended a Nissan Silvia but for what I started with was a Honda S2000 tuned to 270BHP on N1's.

Now I take it to 300BHP with N2's, but thats now, after I learned all other stuff;)

Maybe he should learn how to spell/use grammar too. :)

Here's the best conversation we had going on this topic. It dates back quite a ways but it was (still could be) a very helpful thread.
What would you recommend as the best car to start drifting with?

Any other 'beginner drift car' thread you find will probably have that link in it, so this one should too.
Maybe we should add it to the 'Getting Started in GT4 Drifting:' section of the FAQ. Then we'd have just cause to scream at new members who miss it and open new threads like this one. :sly:

I'm still of the opinion that new drifters should start in an FR or MR. I don't think the actual car they pick is all that important. They should just stick with it and become comfortable in it - they should not be switching from one car to the next until they find something that is easy (odds are they won't find such a car anyways). Learn how changing settings on that one car can affect its handling and how you have to treat it. Then, much later, use that experience as a base to begin drifting other cars.

edit:
oh, and nissandrifter fix your sig. I'm not sure if SILIVA is a misspelling of saliva or silvia.

This is so true, I've made this mistake as far back as GT2 which was basically the first gt game you could drift in(my opinion) I'd switch back and forth like crazy, untill my friend smacked me in the head,"dumb a** use one car and get good with it", now I just try drifting anything (to say car would leave out alot of vehicles) that I find hard, just to overcome my weakness and become "skilled".👍

Edit:BL you use soft rear setups with FR cars?? I'm the complete opposite I use 90% soft front setups.:dunce:

I just switched to DS2 for fun this morning. I learned it in 3 laps with the HKS Silvia, damn do I love that car:drool:

And I'm practically a total n00b in DS2 drifting, but I did it, sweet HKS Silvia:D

On N3's btw.

I started with a AWD (because I always spun with rear tractions) skyline gt-r N1 with DR's settings and I learned quite fast with it. It might not be the best way but IMO you'll learn a lot about throttle control with AWD.

WOOOOOWW:eek: Nice avatar:D:dopey:

AWD is the way I started drifting iN GT4 in general, but the Honda S2000 was real drifting for the first time:p I couldn't stand not being able to drift FR, but then it came with my beautifull Honda S2000:D
