What is dB?

Speaking of this... Do cops go by the KIND of sounds or just dB for exhaust levels because I have a hole in mine and it's pretty loud. I've heard some aftermarket and hot rods that seem just as loud though. I just don't want to get a ticket for it.

Cops go by if its too loud for them you get stopped and have to go to the police station and they will run a dB meter on it. If it passes your ticket is thrown out, if it fails you have 15 to fix it. Simple fix it ticket. Sound systems are different.

I naught is typically 1.

Its 10 time log to the base 10 times the quantity I divided by 1. It's pretty hard to explain now that I think about it.

So it wil be 10 ( log[I] - log[1] ) = 10 ( log[I] ) , since log[1] = 0
