Which car, out of the cars you can buy with your initial $18,000 did you buy, or which one do you think is best? I know that some people won a license test and got prize cars to start off, but I am just running this poll to see which of the original choices people think is the best investment.

You know, to help first time GT3 players choose.

Trueno. definitely the Trueno.
it modifies quickly and effectively, which is what needs to be done at the beginning of the game.

I gotta go for the Trueno...It works soo good at the beginning of the game...And I can get the 80s cups out of the way early...

I would say a Daihatsu Mira!

buy and put a turbo on it, then go for 4 laps super speedway at the beginner Lightweight cup (took only about 3 minutes) and get 2500 cr each race.

when you get enough money, buy a Civic type R and enter the same 4 laps super speedway but this time at the beginner Type R Meeting, and get 5000 cr each race. by an hour you should get around 100.000 cr and buy any decent car you like. ;)

That is a good strategy, but I am still on my first time through the game.

I like the Miata because it can easily win Sunday Cup, Clubman, FR and Roadster challenge and get some pretty sweet cars. Am I mistaken or can the Miata also enter 80's sports cars?

Trueno for mine - modded with a turbo that little fella can fight it out in quite a few amateur events, and not a bad chassis at all on him.

Treuno it is!
Just because I can pretend Im Takumi from initial d in it ;)
(all I need now are the foglights and the tofu delivery sign on the side and im all set!)

None of 'em. MX-5 1.8i that you get for free by doing all golds on B licence. Get off your lazy bums and do some work :) Then spend the 18,000 upgrading the lovely car that you paid nothing for

Put me in the Miata camp. Here's why:

1) The Miata is eligible, and competitive, for a lot of the Beginner races. You're going to win a Trueno (fun car though it be) right away anyway, so why buy one?

2) After a just few successes with the stock Miata, you can buy a set of Super Slicks. This allows you to beat the Roadster Enduro for 100 kilocredits, and a shot at some nice cars. Even if you win another Miata, you can sell the lesser of the two Miatas, and fix up the Trueno with that money. However, I kept it (since I was richer by 100 large) and fixed up one Miata while leaving the other stock to re-run the Roadster Enduro later in the game.

Some of you are assuming that beginners can get the IA license or all golds on the B license.

When I first started I could barely beat the Clubman Cup let alone win the IA License. I STILL cant get all golds on B, or atleast I am too lazy to. I cant imagine anyone starting the game for the first time and just getting all of the licenses just like that. the only exception would be someone who just finished playing GT2.

Exactly. I wanted to dive right into the simulation mode right away, and wasn't interested in doing the boring stuff up front.

PS to 12secCivic: sounds like a rather interesting car. I've thought something similar could be done using the CR-V drivetrain. How good is the transfer box/transmission? And do you drive it every day?

You're right, because that what I did the second time round, after not enjoying scrimping and saving through the early stages after getting used to buying/winning what I liked in GT2 :)

But I answered the question. It's the best first car, as it is available to beginners who wish to hone their skills before taking on the races.

I bought the Trueno as my first car, but my vote goes to the MX-5 since you could take it to the Roadster Enduro straight away and get 100 000 credits, which would be a nice start.

The CRV wheelbase is too large for the civic whereas the Civic Wagon ('88-'91) wheelbase is the exact same as the Civic even thoguh one does look bigger. Unfortunately the late 80's Honda 4wd system is not very good and it puts down power at about 85/15% F/R But it was the only one I could find. I also have disc brakes and the whole rear suspension assembly from the CRX with rear disk brakes.

The car is not a combo that has been made by anyone else, as far as I know but the whole drivetrain seems to match well. I am having problems with the turbo and engine, (knocking and turbo pressure cant stay constant because of EXTREME heat, I have even had a few turbo fires and it has been melting things in the engine bay. The turbo I have in their was not meant for 20+ psi)

PS the turbo I have is from a 1997 eagle talon tsi

My brother started with the Beetle and he did fine. I dont know anyone, or if it is even possible to move on if you buy lets say the Vitz Euro.

I have to side with the Daihatsu Mira TR-XX Avanzato R. The ability to make more than double what you would starting with the Miata or Trueno from the moment you buy the car makes it the best pick. Plus, you can win a Trueno and a Miata in the two easiest series in the game, so buying one at the start is inefficient.

I'm not saying the Miata or Trueno isn't more fun or better looking. I'll also freely admit that the panda and the secretary's car will both perform better in the long run. However, getting started at the very beginning of the game, the Mira will make the most money the fastest (outside of all golds, which someone already stated is unlikely for new players).

If you want a car you like, go with it. If you want to make cash fast and get into a *much* better car than any of the possible starter cars sooner, then go with the Mira. The ugly little slug won't do you wrong.

Only the PT Cruiser.

I really wish they had a 5.0 Mustang, even though I dont like them at all....But they are just so moddable.

Well, yes, of course we all know that (or should, from looking at the prize car lists above).

But can you think of anybody who is just starting the game who would be capable of getting all golds on the licenses? 99.9% of all beginners would give up in frustration and never touch it again... I know I would have, for sure.

The point is, what's the best car for a beginner to start with - NOT someone on their second or third trip through the game.
