What is the best totally free computer to phone calling program?

Skype never used to do free computer to phone calling...It does however do free computer to computer calls. I think the best service differs from area to area (we only have Australian companies delivering VoIP here so I don't think that would suit your purpose).

I dont think you will find any totally free service to go from computer to landline and vice versa..... I use Skype In....... its great and the quality is amazing considering its still in BETA..... I pay something like £8 for 3 months line rental, can choose my number and people can ring me from landlines anywhere!

As Robin said, you probably won’t find any service like that anymore (or at least any decent service). Anyway, $30/year is a bargain, so why not?

Yes it did – last year I used it all the time to call my parents’ landline for free.
