I have a big dust problem in my room, anything from my shelves to my PS3 which seems to love dust, to my diecasts to my games to anything else in my room...

Sure a air-cleaner and a simple rag or duster will do some good but I want it GONE and if possible gone for GOOD it's driving me and especially my girlfriend CRAZY!

I'm sure some of you electronic buffs have some cool trick of the trade tips on how to keep your electronics dust free :D

Walk around in one of these

Bur seriously though, Intel's clean room are almost dust free, I don't know how they do it

Intel's clean rooms are amazing if you have allergies. I got to tour one once. Best Place Ever.

i keep a small air purifier running 24/7 in my room. Works good.

I've got one of them, but I can't work out where to plug it in...

You'd have to get a air filter or some sort of static charge holder.

Otherwise, stop losing dead skin and close your windows. ;)

Seal the room and pressurize higher than outside air pressure, allow it to vent slowly while maintaining positive pressure.

Probably cheaper to hire a cleaning lady, cheaper still to run a duster over it once a week or so.

Have you tried ramming it into the socket really hard? If that doesn't work, I find that simply ripping the plug off the wall and taking those wire things and attach one to your arm and the other to the duster. It should work... :dunce:

I always thought those things were solar powered!

You can’t permanently get rid of dust, unless you simply stop living in your house – humans shed about 20mg of skin per minute, so…

I use a Swiffer Duster when I need to. The fluffy fibers trap the dust instead of just kicking it up like conventional dusters; then you just toss out the used duster-head so there's no chance of the dust making it back onto your surfaces.

It seems to work pretty well.

The BEST way to remove it is not to address the problem of the dust itself. You address the perception of the problem.

i.e.: stop caring and get on with your life.

If only I could do this with my camera equipment, in which dust is driving me INSANE.

So if I stop caring about not having a job I will get a job?

Are you serious? Do you live in a desert or something?

When I heard about how much dead skin humans shed I remember it being, in scientific terms, icky. But then I realized the alternative to shedding dead skin and I am glad for the process, lol. But dust is actually comprised of a wide variety of contaminants, most of which are unavoidable.

But to contribute to the topic, I have quite the dust problem as well. However, I just dust whenever it gets bad. Sure it's a pain, but if I don't then my allergies get pretty bad so it is quite necessary.

Dust and vacuum daily. Wipe the top shelves first, and work your way down. Dust everything, like the walls, first before you vacuum. Wait 10-15 minutes before vacuuming and dust shelves once more (the dust moves around and then settles after dusting the first time).

If the problem never corrects itself, purchase a new vacuum cleaner. It's not collecting the dust; it's just blowing it around. It might mean the vacuum cleaner filters are clogged and therefor not working properly. Replace filters often, even if they still look 'clean.' Replace the bag, too.

You might have one of those fancy 'bagless' vacuums. Get rid of it. I had a huge dust problem thanks to one of those. They just don't trap the dust like the bag kind. If you have a bagless kind, DONT EMPTY THE CONTAINER IN THE HOUSE!!! The dust flies right back out again, while most of the heavy stuff pours out.

But, here's the biggest tip of all. Use the 'house fan' system. Set it to the room temperature setting, so the AC or heater doesn't come on. Replace the heater filter, too. Chances are you've never done it. What this system does is collect a lot of the dust. No more dust issues.

However, if you don't want to use the house fan system in your house, you must get an air cleaner and place it in whatever room you have a dust problem. I do, and no longer have a huge dust problem. I live near a lot of empty space, desert and mountains so dust is a constant problem.

Also, it could be old carpet and old ceiling 'popcorn' spray falling apart and causing your 'dust' problem. But, most dust is dead human skin.
