I'm starting to lose more weight than normal for someone my height & age. I've looked online, and according to various sources, I should be around 170-180lb at 5'10, 5'11. I'm dropping fast nearly a pound a day, even after eating 4 large meals in one day. I do work out as well, and I'm worried that's contributing.

Thus, GTP, I'm looking at weight gainers. I've seen a few, and I've been to GNC, but I'm not paying $80 for something that lasts 5-10 days, and offers 800 calories. I'm more interested in something that'll give 800+ and will last a month for a good price. So far, this has been my best bet.

30 servings & 650 calories with water (though I plan to take it with milk).

So, asking you all, what is the best supplement for me & at the same time, what is the healthiest? A few guys I knew in high school took these, and 2-3 experienced some very extreme sickness afterwards. :scared:

I'm hoping, in particular, Pako or another Fitness-oriented person can point me in the right direction.

Um, if you’re literally dropping a pound a day, you should see a doctor. Like, NOW. Even people on a serious diet aren’t supposed to lose that much weight that quickly.

I'd see a doctor. Could be an overactive thyroid. I'm incapable of gaining weight. I just had my blood tests last week. Partially for this, mostly because I can't stay hungry for more than an hour before my body starts to shut down on me.

Besides that, I tend to take IsoFlex protein after my workouts... but that's AFTER I spend an hour in the gym or two hours on my bike. 4 months of cycling and 9 months of lifting. I burned fat and gained just as much in muscle mass. I currently eat about 2500-3000+ calories per day on most weekdays. Less on weekends when I'm not doing anything particularly strenuous. Read my comments on weight gain supplements below:

The weightgainer supplements are really bad for you. They're pretty much just a minor chemical variation of sugar (FDA allows them to call it sugar free this way - it's not), protein, and creatine. The sugar is not a good carb to be taking in. Eat whole wheat pasta instead. The protein is fine, but you can get some essential fats by mixing it in with milk. Get a plain protein powder instead - MUCH cheaper and more calories than the protein isolates I take. You won't see much in the way of gains without working out though. The creatine is REALLY bad for you if you don't work out. It works by forcing your muscles to retain water. The idea is that it forces the cells to stay in an expanded state while they heal - thus providing a quicker bulk-up. The moment you stop the creatine, you'll wind up losing the water weight in a matter of days and keep whatever small amounts of muscle you gain in the meantime. No point there.

Go to the doctor RIGHT NOW!

Later, add up your caloric intake and caloric output. See if you've been working out too much, or not eating enough.

But, going to the doctor is most important to you right now.

Yeah I'm going to back up everyone else here and say see the doctor.

And then back up others and say don't bother with the bulk up powders, take a protein supplement and then add more calories to your diet in other ways, even if it's a Mars bar or so. And creatine can be beneficial, but I wouldn't take it as part of an all-in-one supplement. I'd take it seperatley and cycle its use appropriatley.

I can see now that, dropping a pound a day was a terrible way of wording it. But, I do tend to lose a few ounces every other day which is what worries me (I can slow it down to losing nothing for the day if I eat enough, though). And I'm hoping taking one of these supplements would reduce that as well as help putting on muscle.

I will look up these protein gainers though if that's what I'm better off on.

I recommend going to Dr B.King

When I got my wisdom teeth out last year, I decided it'd just be eaiser to not eat for a week. I lost 6.5kg (14.3lbs) in the first 5 days.
