Hey, I was just wondering what the difference is between BMW M3's ( Standard Versions ) in the game. I've seen 3 versions of them in UCD: M3, M3 CSL, and M3 GTR. I have been able to obtain the 1st 2/3 and they seem the same, but i am wondering if the M3 GTR is the same. Anyone know? Thanks in Advance.

i have the GTR, CSL & an '04 M3. the '04 M3 is an incredibly good car in it's class. easily able to beat an R34 or fairlady Z & at the same time has better tyre life.

They are all slightly different and I am sure there is a reason why the GTR is more expensive. They are worth looking out for. I have all of them but have not driven any of them yet.

The reason the GTR is so expensive compared to the others is that BMW only made 10 of them, and sold them for 250,000 euros. BMW needed to make a road going M3 that had a V8 engine to allow them to use the GTR race rar in the ALMS.

Wow, okay, here's something I can answer.

In real life, at least, this is how it goes.

M3: Base standard. Yeah, that's about it, I'm not here to advertise BMW.

M3 CSL: Lightened to hell. Given stickier tires, and tuned a little more for the track.

M3 GTR: Not sure. What I do know is that it has a V8 instead of a straight-6. I suspect it's more of the CSL.

The Normal M3 has an all metal body and sunroof option. The CLS has an carbon fibre roof , lighter glass , sound proofing and boot. The GTR is a stripped out racer , with the exhaust mounted to the side rather than the quads at the rear.

'04 M3 is the "standard" road car 333hp I-6

M3 CSL is the "standard road car on steroids" carbon fiber roof, intake manifold, different section 1 & 2 exhaust, 1" bigger front brakes(and drilled) factory, no stereo, different inner door panels, lightened glass, and other "comfort items" removed..

M3 GTR road car has a V8(rather than the I6 in the previous two) and is the car they built(pretty sure only 10) so they could race the M3 GTR race car in ALMS for example because the competitors were complaining since there was no V8 production M3 at that time. All 3 are FUN to drive and worth the buy.

👍 👍 👍

Didnt the CSL come with a different gear box also, Paddle shift maybe?

Naw, my 2006 M3 Competition package has the SMG gearbox also. It's an "option" for any of the M3's since 2001.

(And that's the US version of the CSL) but no carbon roof, not the same door liners, not the lightened glass, same brakes though, not the carbon airbox, same section 1 & 2 exhaust the CSL has though. So at least I got "something" that the "real" CSL has.. :)

Cool, I dont believe we got the SMG box option till a bit later here in Aus, heard it wasnt that great though, your thoughts?

p.s. ive never driven an smg box M3

I've driven a very late e46 m3 cab with the SMG gearbox and I found it to be a bit of a dog to drive. The changes were jerkey and it didn't improve the experience at all IMO. TBH you can't beat the orginal M3 for pure driving pleasure, has to be an evo with 200+ bhp rather than the 195bhp model.
