There are two Dodge Viper GTS-R Race Cars in the game. The #91 has been around since at least gt3, but they added the #51 in gt5. Why did they do that? Is there any sort of difference in performance and handling? Or is there some sort of historical significance that I do not know about?

Theye are slightly different in performance and handling.
But similar in pace.
IIRC, the #91 was a tad faster.

#51 won the 2000 Daytona 24 Hour race overall
#91 won it's class in 2000 Le Mans 24 Hour race.

other way round.

91 was used by Oreca in all US races and won the 24 hours of Daytona overall.
51 was used by Oreca in Europe and their Le Mans entries were 51, 52, and 53. 51 won the class and the 51 is branded Chrysler as the Dodge name was already patented in Europe.

Page 2 has Le Mans 24 entry.

I believe GTMail may have mistaken it for the Zakspeed viper gts-r which did have a V8 engine due to some restrictions and regulations.

That's possible, Zakspeed did indeed buy an Oreca built V10 Viper and later outfit it with a V8, but the #51 and #91 depicted in the game are the factory backed team Oreca V10 Vipers.

They are different levels too I think...
Got to compare today them 👍
Dodge Viper GTS-R Team Oreca Race Car #51 '00 Level 21
Dodge Viper GTS-R Team Oreca Race Car #91 '00 Level 22

Been looking all weekend for a #51 with no luck. OLD is still on the Chevy kick.

Does anyone have a #51 to sell or trade?
