What is the quickest way to get the first copy's of GT4 when released?

Just wondering, is it better to pre-order it? Or wait till the day it comes out? I wanna make sure, like everyone else, that I get it ASAP when it first is available, and not sure if it's best to pre-order, or just wait? If pre-ordering, what location is best to pre-order from? Thanks

:sigh: definately pre-order any very anticipated game if you want it within 2 weeks of the release date. GTA:SA was sold out for a month in my area after the pre-order. And for your second question .. a video game store .. duh! :dunce:

depends on location and the game itself.

In Toronto, I've never had any trouble getting any game the day it's released. The only game I had trouble with was GTA:SA.

Pre Order your copy.

I did not pre order GT2 when it was released (a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away) and I almost had a not so happy christmas.

I know GT4p preorders by mail were recieved 2 days before the actual releasedate here, so mabye preordered, prepaid by mail is the way to go.

A lot of people will jump in here and say that pre-ordering is useless, that you can just walk into the game store on the day and buy it.

But, when you walk into that game store on the day.. there is always a chance, no matter how small, that the game won't be available. The more anticipated the game is, the more likely this will be the case. Let's say a store has taken 120 pre-orders. On release day, the store recieves 125 copies of the game. Simple math.. there's only five copies that will go on the shelf. And those will almost certainly be gone within a few hours. The rest of them are locked up behind the counter.

The only way to truly guarantee against this is to pre-order it. It doesn't cost anything extra, there's no pain or loss involved, you might as well do it.

Although you may not think it costs nothing extra, it really does. The interest on the money is lost because the money isn't in your bank account. Although very small, it could add up from multiple games.

I believe this is why pre-ordering is pushed by EBGames and other gaming stores. It's such an easy way for these stores to make money. Let's use Halo 2 as an example. There are numerous people who preordered the game up to 2 years before it was even released at $70 (CDN) a copy. Let's say there's 1000 copies on preorder. That's $70,000 they have in the bank collecting interest over 2 years. You do the math. :dopey:

Except you don't need to pre-order multiple games.. just the few that are so highly anticipated that they could theoretically sell out faster than you can get to the store. GT4 is the first game in years that I've pre-ordered. And it only requires.. what, ten bucks? And since the game is only a month out, give or take, you're losing what.. a penny in interest?

You could cut that down even more by pre-ordering just a day or two before release.

I did a pre-order for GT and GT2 from the SF autoshow but for some reason stopped doing it. I think for GT3 I just picked it up when it came out. For GT4 I'm hoping I'll just be in a store right when they put it on the shelf. At the moment I'm hoping there will be some kind of big release at the LA autoshow when I go but I doubt it... I just don't believe stores don't already have the game. It's been done for a while, wtf is the damn hold up???

if you don't have a credit card , i think most local game stores accept pre-orders. i just called mine and all i have to do is go over there, give them 10$(canadian) deposit and ill have my copy garanteed the day its out:D

It has been known for Gameplay to send releases out up to 3 days before release, plus, as was said above, its £10 cheaper than in stores.

Makes perfect sense to pre-order from Gameplay, they take no money untill the game has shipped.

In fact, you would have to be mental to order it from anywhere else!!! LOL

Dan.

Yes i would also recomend gameplay. ive ordered loads of titles and they are at least 10 pound chepaer then the shops and first class postage is only 1 pound so you get it the next day. Best of both worlds. They also accept debit cards so its better for people under 18 who do not have credit cards. I think its now time to pre order my GT4 :)

the quickest way to get it would be to construct a transcontinum time space teleporter and remerge from the intergallactic wormhole in japan in late december 2004. Or...you could set the time forward and be the first to have GT5!!!

I hope the local shops will do the same they did for the pc HL2 release, they don't put them on the shelves and those who dare to ask will get one lol

PREORDER its the only way to go. I had to preorder Madden 05 actually got it earlier than I was supposed to. I waited outside the store tilll 12:01 am to get it.

Preorder is only good if you can get it at a local store, I hate pre-ordering a game then finding it in a sotore before i get it,

I got lucky with Gt2, i went to toysrus the day it came out, they didn't have it on the shelf, but i asked if they had any left, and they had only a few that wern't presold, so i hapily walked out with my copy

I'm personally waiting for it to show up in stores (mainly because i have $90 at circuit city i have to use, and they don't pre-order games, kinda dumb but what can you do)

The day GT3:A SPEC was released, the whole of HMV was supplied with shelves and shelves of the game. The whole que was just people lined up with copies of GT3.I reccommend you pre-order one/get one reserved if you are concerned about it. U could try pre-order on Amazon, when a relase date is confirmed. If not, wake up at 7:30 and get down to the games shop straight away so u make sure you get your copy.

Oh .. and if you want it but don't pre-order it you can always hit up the local wal-mart. They stock them the night of pre-release most of the time. Atleast thats what the local one did with GTA:SA and H2.

Pre-order and camp outside the local games store for a week or two beforehand. Either that or hijack the truck transporting the copies, but I recommend camping outside the store (hey, it works in Japan!) because if you hijack the truck your house is likely to be blown up three days later by the GT fans who didn't get their game on time.

I live in Belgium and you can pay 5€ and then they keep one apart in the game store. When the game is in the shop they call you :)
I did that once for Colin Mcrae Rally 2.0, I think. But the store never got back to me. Fortunately, reserving it was free and I got a copy elsewhere (and it was cheaper, too!).

I think I'll learn from my past mistakes. I waited for MGS3 to go on sale at Wall Suck, or even Target, Circuit City, or what not and they didn't get it in before the "Game Shops." So, this time, I'll preorder and prepay a copy of GT4.

I should be playing it Monday afternoon on the 14th.

IT should be said that i have a friend that owns a video game store, and im getting it for free (Late Christmas present).

But if your in the Seattle area, and want a copy of GT4 without going to LameStop, or ElectronicButtique, PM me, and ill give you his store number, and info.
