I recently saw this comment about the seasonal events at a different GT5 forum:

"I quit the minute I saw that I couldn't blast through it with a duped X1."

...Seriously? Firstly, I think the seasonal events are great, they offer a nice challenge that is far different from the others in the game. Secondly, you can't just "blast" through them in an overpowered car, you have to be smart about your tuning and handle the car around the track well to win.

So now people complain about not being able to easily win events with the best cars in the game that they haven't even earned for themselves?

Wow.

Wow.

Your quoted text sounds like sarcasm to me. Yes, people feel like since they bought a game they are good enough to do everything in it with no problem.

Most of the fun in a game comes from the challenge. People just want stuff given to them these days.

^ this ^

I love the seasonal events. They are a real challenge and far better than "blasting" around the track with a 30 lap lead!

One of the criticisms of the game when it first came out was the lack of events. Well I think that with these seasonal events we have some more balance. Now we have more events, with (some) hard challenges, and some excellent rewards.

Agreed. The seasonal stuff's the best thing to happen to GT5 since the actual release. Despite having a pretty tough time of it thus far, it's still the highlight of the game imo.

I must say I am really enjoying the seasonal events. Far more so than I thought that I would.

The close competition is nice, plus they are forcing me to try cars that I wouldn't normally consider buying. For example, I am having an absolute blast flinging the The FD RX7 Bathurst R around.

Paying for something immediately entitles someone to all its benefits. Games shouldn't have to be work. Working for stuff in a game sucks. Work is for work. It's my GT5, and I want it now!

Somewhere down the road, many seem to have forgotten that challenging content makes gaming fun. It's not like this is Ghost 'n Goblins. Holy crap. Nightmares.

yeah the seasonal events are fun, its a real challenge and the rewards are plenty too, some people just want to get things the "easy" way

I think the folks complaining about it represent a small portion of the fans. Like what most of the guys have said in here, it's about the challenge and the fulfillment you get after a long battle and ending up on the top-step. By working hard and earning it, it makes the rewards that much more gratifying.

Who knows, kids today are probably getting things handed to them too easily.

Five or six years in the making and people want to rip through it like it's street fighter.
Spose you could throw them in to the group of people that complain about "grinding". Cracking the sads cause you're not levelling up after every single race and driving the fastest cars. I used to race club races in a Mitsubishi Mirage (sky high budget) and I never complained that I hadn't been offered a spot in a formula one team.
It's not grinding, it's playing the game that you've waited so long for.
Have a cup of concrete and harden up!

End rant.

I'm loving the seasonal events. Especially the races, with their generous rewards. What's with time trial not having any reward? I'm thinking at the date when it says the events expire maybe the top x amount of people get a nice reward?

I like the seasonal events and the challenge. I didn't find much challenge in the gt5 a-spec.

The seasonal events and the difficulty of those is imho the saving grace for gt5.
