Yes, they're an aftermarket manufacturer that heavily modify Porsches, to the point that they are legally considered a separate manufacturer in Germany.

So does this mean that GT makers must have gone to :Porsche: asked for the licenses and got 'no' :shakehead as a reply, and then asked :ruf: who give it the who gave it the  to use their modded versions?

Yup - pretty much. I heard some talk Porsche asked Ruf to appear in the game to get around their exclusivity agreement with EA.

That kinda makes sense cuz I suppose that Porche would actually want to have their cars in a DECENT racing game. Maybe thats the reason why one of the secret models was an actuall Porche 911 GT3. I wonder if Ferrari will take that route but I dont think that they have an aftermarket tuning company simmilar to ruf (or do they :odd: )

About that EA Agreement Vat_man, are the manufacturers not allowed to have there cars featured with more than one game maker? :gcar:

Depends on the agreement they sign - given that Porsche got their own NFS game with EA it would be a pretty fair assumption.

Isn't Nismo a company that mods up Nissans ,well some nissans mostly skylines right?
I thought RUF was some Porsche Racing team, not a company for making em better.

RUF mods Porsches like Saleen mods Fords.

With enough mods (and real world sales,) the folks who write the laws consider the car to be so different from the original that it is a new car.

It's a great way to get around the various game publisher license nazis too. :)

Burrito and Vat are both right, period. No question about it. Go to their website if you wish (you can find it through gtvault.)

Tommy Kaira is the company that tunes up Nissans.
Nismo only make parts for Nissans. They are not a car company.

Hamann does great work on everything from Ferarris to BMW's.... does anyone know if they fit the qualifications to be recognized as a separate company? Because if they were recognized that one be one FANTASTIC loophole for Polyphony to use.

 But Nismo would have to be a company to manufacture the parts in the first place....Hence they make car parts therefore being a Car Company Parts Manufacturer :D

Are you sure :tk: tune up :nissan:, first I've heard of it, you never see like a 'Nismo Tommi Skyline R34 GTR' now do you?

Tommy Kaira Have been tuning skylines for quite a while here is a pic of a R33 Tommykaira. If you have GT2 tommy kaira have loads of tuned skylines in their shop even an R34. My fav was the TommyKaira R32-GTs-m FR one

A few tuned versions does not a car manufacturer make.

Tuner shops like Hennessey, Rousch, Tommy K, etc. make some sweet (name your car here) but they do not make them in anywhere near the numbers that RUF or Saleen do.

You need serious numbers in production to make it legally profitable to be considered a different manufacturer.

As for Nismo, TRD, etc. these are parts suppliers. Nothing more. The ones in the game are all company-owned parts suppliers.
