What is wrong with the corvetts in 6th gear

You're obviously above the torque range of the engine, try lowering the auto setting so that you're only just touching the redline at the end of the longest straight for the particular course that you're racing. Its the same for many cars if you have the gears set incorrectly.

Some cars in the game with standard or racing gearbox have such a pathetic default setup that this can occur. Its why all these parameters are tunable, so you can extract the absolute maximum from any given vehicle.

IT's hitting the REV limiter. You need to adjust the transmission.
