This set up seems to work very smoothly for me. I was just curious what yours is. You dont have to post for all of the buttons, just the main ones (gas, brake, steer, shift).

Left side:
L1, Rear Veiw.
L2, Brake
L3, Steering
L3 Toggle, Ghost
Up, Windsheild Wipers
Left, High Beams

Right Side:
R1, Hand Brake
R2, Gas
R3, Shift (Press up for up shift, down for down shift. Left and right do nothing.)
Triangle, Reverse
X, Horn.

Why do people have a button for the windshield wipers? They work on their own when it rains and they stop when it doesn't.

Only time it could possibly be any use is to stop the wipers when you're going through the tunnels at the Eiger Short Track or High Speed Ring, which only takes a few seconds and then you're back out in the rain.

Just to take up the space. I didn't have a horn for the longest time either until I decided to just throw it in.

The only things i changed were

R2/L2: Gas/brake
D-Pad has horns/wipers
X and Square are Shift up/down

Haven't gotten around to it due to laziness, but i'm going to take out the gas/brake on Right stick~I keep forgetting that i can't rotate the camera with that T_T

Okay, I just learned something new, I had no idea you could look left or right.:dunce:

Yep! and you can also set it so that when you hit the select button a Bear with chainsaw hands mauls Justin Bieber. GT5 is really the best isnt it?

For if you use cockpit view maybe.

I'm surprised at how different everyone's button maps are. This is my core set-up:

Left Analog steering
Right Analog accelerate/brake
L2 & R2 gear shifting
Δ reverse
O handbrake
L1 look behind

The rest are set up for RA functions and some useless functions that I should really get rid of. Most annoying is the horn for L3 and wipers for R3, which results in me clamping down on the horn during really tight corners and putting the wipers on when braking hard.

Thats interesting, so you use both your middle fingers and pointer fingers, but not your right thumb (well not for common racing actions anyway)

Been thinking of changing it around though.

Anyone who has look left/right set to the right analog stick, does it move depending on how much you push the stick or is it just fully left or fully right?

It does, only reacts according how much pressure you do to the stick. Just wonder if the driver moves his head:odd:

the core is as follows, i know its weird. :)

steer with left analog
r2 - accelerate
r1 - shift down
× - shift up
□ - brake
O - e-brake
triangle - reverse

i use abs=1 so the □ for brake is fine. this way, the left hand only steers. i tried the l2 for brake but didnt like it

Im pretty sure my right hand would have a seizure if I tried using that setup. XD

lol. it's not bad at all if you think about it:

you're using finger on r2 when accelerating and your thumb to shift up (x). when braking; you're using the thumb (square) to brake and your finger to shift down (r1). the only part that is odd is when you need to downshift while accelerating but a) it's uncommon and b) i've learned to roll my finger onto r1 while keeping pressure on r2. (kinda like heel n toe lol)

I find using the L2 can vary the pressure of braking force which is useful as it gives you smoother braking and entry into corners.
Just my experience though, i know yours is different. :)

I wanted a thread like this, wanted to see other people's set ups.

Mine:

Left Side:
L1: Rear View
L2: Brake
Select: Change View
L3: Horn
Left Stick: Steering

Right side:
R1: Ghost car on / off
R2: Accelerate
Triangle: Reverse
Square: high beams
O: handbrake
X: RA Menu -I use the directional buttons to control the menu-
Start: Pause
R3: Windscreen wipers
Right stick up down: change up, change down
Right stick left right: look left, look right

Hey does anyone know what the ghost button does? I'm assuming its for time trials and it has something to do with setting up a ghost replay in race. Does anyone know how it is used, exactly what its used for, and why it is used?

There will be a ghost car on track with you after you complete a clean lap in time trial or [offline] free run modes, or if you load a replay to use as one.

The Ghost button just toggles display of the ghost car on track on and off, so you can follow it when you want, or turn it off if it distracts you when you get close to it.

Buttons:
L2 -Brake
R2 -Gas
Square -Downshift
X -Upshift
O -Wipers
Triangle -Reverse
L1 -look back
R1 -flash and toggle high beams
L3 -horn
R3 -RA menu open/close
D-pad -RA menu select/adjust

I generally just have the DS3 next to me so I can get to the RA menu without having to consume a couple of buttons on my wheel.

If I drove with the DS3 more than once every now and then I'd probably use Circle for the E-Brake instead of the wipers(since a wiper button is only for screwing around anyway, it has no actual use), but I hardly ever use the E-Brake unless on dirt as it is so I don't really miss it. I would just set Triangle to be the wipers if PD wasn't so rude by forcing us to use a stupid button for reverse instead of just shifting into it.
