What is your greatest overtaking move on/offline?

Not my best but my favourite wasn't an overtaking but blocking someone. On Tokyo R246 Super GT race i was being drafted along the start/finish straight so i moved to the inside line forcing him to try and over take around the outside of the first turn.
We both hit our brake markers the same time and left the corner side by side, him on the left me on the right, we preceeded to stay side by side until the slight right into tight left chicane after the back-straight with me getting the drive out of the corner before leading to the straight and forcing him to back off last second (or try and squeeze up the inside of a rapidly dissapearing gap and ruining both our races, thankfully he didn't).
I was overtaken on the start/finish the next lap round but fortunately took him 3 corners later and went on to win the race (hoo-rah)
 
Online - At the first corner of daytona road course in Le Mans cars. I got a good slipstream round the bank and went for the inside but got blocked. So I quickly darted to the outside (at this point in the region of 220 mph) and went braver on the brakes than him and went millimetres away from touching the grass. But I held it together and secured the move coming out the corner. :D
 
Great responses guys :) i had one the other day on the eiger, a pack of three all battling away in very similar cars. I do a dummy on both of them from the outside to in and squeeze past in the inside. Surprised i didnt hit the back of one of them to be honest.

I love it when i catch up a battle in front because of them being slower battling with eachother, catching up and joining the battle is so satisfying!
 
It was a Le Mans race at Le Sarthe. Me and some other guy were both in GT2 class, I was Ferrari and he was a Corvette ZR1. I was outta fuel, and he was damaged. I knew I would take longer in the pits, so I had to somehow beat him out of there. On the way to the pit entry I draft and feint on the outside, and try to pass him on the uber tight pit chicane. He has the right of way, so he blocks me, taking it slow. I floor it, shooting forward, straight pass him, and my pit comes later, but because of the timing he has to stop so I can pull out. We head out onto the last lap neck-and-neck, and I win by 0.786 sec. I could feel my heart beating.

In karting, on the 1 lap races on Monaco coming into the chicane after the tunnel, I start in the back and then use the handbrake. I pass like 5 or 6 people. Its insane!

My first game online was on the ring 24h in the dark. Me and two other guys, they were friends. One was in the Citroen GT, the other in a ZR1. I was in the F40. We all start off well. Im not on the mic, but they are. Both of them had power on me, but I was the better driver. I got into 2nd and was battling for 1st when they started chatting about knocking me out.
They spin me out and go racing off in darkness laughing. The ring is such a long track, they were just chatting away, thinking I was long gone. I kept listening to see if they noticed me closing the gap and sure enough, just more chatter about tweener stuff.
Kill my highbeams and close the gap on the ZR1 on the straightaway. Where it crests and has the slight turn, I slam him from behind. I dont see much in my mirror but a could of smoke, dust and his lights twirling around like a lighthouse on speed.
"The other guy came out of nowhere, he just crashed me off the track!" he starts shouting.
"What? where? now?" the other guys starts shouting.
Final turn, the Citroen GT goes a little wide, I put myself sideways and slam into him, using him as a barrier between me and the grass. I make it out clean and cross the finish as he 3 point turns himself back on the track.
ZR1 was a DNF :)
much swearing fallowed.

Was great.
 
Online at Nurburgring Nordschleife coming into the final corner. I was behind coming into the final set of corners and managed to get next to the leader. We were side by side for the final right hander and I was on the outside in a Nissan Fairlady Z Concept LM and I can't remember his but I think a DTM car. There was a slight tap between us in the corner and I gassed it a little to hard, sending me into the grass but still going forward, while he got a little loose. I took out a bunch of cones sliding through the grass and ended up winning by less than tenth.

He immediately sent me a friend request as it was good hard racing. I didn't realize you could save online races until the next day so I didn't get to relive it.:ouch:
 
I'm not the world's greatest overtaker, so mine aren't all that spectacular but there are two that stick out in my mind in the online races I've done.

• Nürburgring Nordschleife, down towards Hatzenbach. I was driving my Lotus Evora, and there was a Mercedes SLS and a Lamborghini Gallardo going side-by-side on the run down the hill. I'd carried a lot of speed through the previous corner and had a great run but they were blocking the track. There was a hint of a gap on the outside as we ran around a fast left-hander, just about the width of a Lotus Evora. I ran clean around the outside in a wall of death moment inches from the grass!

• Rome, into the fast right-hander at the end of the back straight (just after you drop down the hill). I'd been following a Spoon Civic for the entire race in my Honda CR-X and just couldn't find a way past. It got down to the final lap and I needed to do something. I got a good drive out of the corner at the beginning of the straight and slipstreamed the Civic all the way down and managed to pull alongside, albeit to the outside again. He started to move me towards the wall but left just enough gap for me to run. I braked as late as I dared as we rolled down the hill, and he braked slightly early. Managed to roll off the brakes and get the car rotated into the corner, narrowly missed the wall on the outside and was through! Possibly my greatest overtake in all of my sim racing career (in 9 years!)

...then the Civic driver punted me off at the last corner. :indiff:
 
I was racing on the 'Ring(Love that course) online and I was driving my ZR1 and was running in last( I don't do that often:p ) there was an R34 Skyline GTR and an Audi R8 in front of me, and I noticed for most of the race they were side swiping each other and almost crashing so I decided to hang back and wait to make my move. So about half way through the race, we come into a tight corner with a sharp down grade going to the left(I forget it's name) and they both go way to wide and collide with each other, so I dropped my ZR1 down a gear and got to the inside of the corner and passed them both, and I even went on to win that race:p

Why did you have to revenge? :( Best way to beat dirty drivers is to beat 'em clean, that makes them even more pissed AND it doesn't make you as cheap as them.

Its not about being cheap, clean or some level of moral highground.

Its about taking on two that teamed up on you and serving them back with a solid backhand of grass and sidewall. Anyone can play fair...

Since tires are essentially free, I do a lot of four-wheel drifting and powersliding to overtake other drivers on short races.
I don't really have a specific amazing story, but that's just how I race.
 
While running on online race at the ring, I was running in the FTO touring car but I'm not sure what he was in. On the long straight before the finish line I drafted up and went to pass him to take the lead. Right when I got along side of him, he side swipes me into the grass. Luckily I bounce of the wall and end up right behind him again. I went to pass him again and same story.... We probably traded paint about 6 or 7 times down the straight. Coming up into the corners he was slightly ahead and beside of me and I knew what he was planning. As soon as I see his car twitch I slam on my brakes and he barely misses me when he swerves over. He goes of the track, slams into the wall, does a 360, then somehow ends up right behind me again..... I'm thinkin great, this guy is now gonna rear end me going into the second to last corner. I'm lookin in the rear view mirror expecting to get slammed when all of a sudden the guy in 3rd place just T bones the second place guy! I guess he had seen what was goin on the whole time and decide he was gonna take matters into his own hands and take out the D*ck in second. So I went on to get first, the Tboner got second, and the d*ck quit and didn't finish. Lets just say I was very happy that he came along when he did lol.
 
Online. GTbyCitroen race car (mine) vs mclaren f1 on the nurburgring. We were battling for the whole lap just leap frogging each other until the lead up to the second jumping point before the second carousel like corner. I was about to pass him when I ran too wide around a slight bend and bumped home off the track. We bOth slammed into the wall. I recovered first and ended up ahead but he complained I bumped home to gain position so I pulled over, let him pass and I overtook him again only cleanly. He was furious.

Mine... well my greatest wasnt in GT5 but il mention it anyway. iRacing Formula 1 race at Lime Rock.

I'm in 3rd place following both the 1st and 2nd cars, we come to the final corner and i take it better than both to gain a speed advantage on the main straight, going down the straight i get a tow on 2nd place car who moves over to the right of the 1st place car, i think he was aiming for a possible pass.

I approach at higher speed and notice a gap in the middle of 1st and 2nd place, a leap of faith and i brake slightly later allowing me to pass them through the middle into the first corner to take the lead. Following that i was actually congratulated over the mic on the epic pass... I do have it on replay but its in iRacing format that i have no way to convert into a real video.

I'd love to see that video Bigbazz. Find a way to convert it! I go to LRP every year and wish that track was in GT5.
 
Last night I was racing Nascar at Daytona and had fallen back to about 11th on the first lap (my 4th gear was a little too long at the start) but on lap 2 there was a crash, all I could see was spinning cars and smoke so I kept it flat and saw a slight gap opening on the inside which I crept through into 4th, 7 passes in 1!
 
Online in the WSGTC series here on GTPlanet - racing at Monaco, double overtake at the Massenet corner around the outside of both 1st and 2nd place. I had exited the pitlane on a 2-stop strategy and came out of the pitlane behind two guys on a 1-stop strategy, so passing asap was vital to be in with a chance of beating the others on a 2-stopper, couldn't afford to be held up. Three wide at Monaco, no contact, awesome.

The video is from another driver's perspective, but I am driving the RX7 in front.
