WHOA! Man, I distinctly remember going back through and spelling Porsche correctly because I noticed I spelled it wrong. I think somebody stealth-modded my post.
Porches is plural, and no our house doesn't actually have a Porch.
We do keep a Porsche in the garage though!
I've nothing against scrapyards, just my experience of the pick'n'pull ones round here has been that you get charged $5 to go in and look around, and then they don't have what you want anyway. They won't even tell you before you pay if they've even got the model of car in there that you're looking for!![]()
Those are some crazy prices. The honda dealer here charges 36 bucks an hour for labor.Well, I'm guessing it's the California mark-up I'm looking at here.
The $1300 was from a friend's place and includes a $200 knockdown on the price.
I've just been to the local Mazda dealers to see who they get their bodywork repaired with, and they also gave me a quote. $1646.![]()
Makes $1300 look reasonable! The fender itself is only $211. The paint and materials are around $200 - $250. It's the labour charges here that are the killer. This place wants $90/hr for 10 hours, and then of course there's 8.75% "Arnie" tax on all that.
Our friends place is going to charge $78/hr which is a lot more reasonable, but definitely the repair bill for a good-as-new fix is going to top $1000 whichever way I cut it, which settles the issue of whether to claim for it or not! I guess Progressive will be getting a call from itgirlxx tonight to give them the gory details! 👍
Still it should be the BSOB that did it that pays.![]()
