We all have those tests, where maybe we see our friends list having all accomplished it, or one that should be easy but we just can't seem to get it.

For me, it's the Eco challenge. Last mission on the second set of missions using the Skyline 2000-GT. All my friends have it, and I'm still almost 2 seconds off despite hacking away for probably 3 hours on it.

Also, honorable mention to that *%#@! drifting a Mustang race car around 1 turn. But I'm done that, and I'm never looking at it again

I've golded all the licenses, finished all the menu books and championships on hardest AI, but drifting... I've had to resort to using a controller today to get past the basic drifting mission. Still took about 20 tries to get over 7000 points.

I'm not good at it, don't enjoy it and don't understand the desire to destroy perfectly good tyres. 😀

Are you using manual transmission? Short shifting helps a lot with this challenge.

i don't understand frustration over drifting in this game, i mean I'm not great at in general but in this game drifting just like offroad physics do not even remotely correspond with reality, it's just takes couple of tries and i was golden seriously least frustrating challenges in this demo

I feel exactly the same! Yeah it requires skill, but that's the only thing good I can say about it. Beauty of motorsports is that there's something for everyone.

Actually started doing that a little more this morning on my runs. I have about 1.5 seconds left to shave off to get gold. It's finally in sight!

you must drive it smoothly without playing with power limiter, there plenty of tutorials on how to do it

Yes, I've watched a few. Still gives me fits though. I wish I could do it. And glad to see some others here struggling with different things. Usually we all have a hard time with something, even though it shouldn't be that difficult

That eco challenge is killing me, I can get consistently 0.2 seconds from gold but just cannot find that extra time. And drifting too, so annoying. I'm playing on a wheel though so might have to give the controller a try for that

With licences I struggled with S-7 until I realized I had countersteering assist turned on... and boom, gained 2 seconds instantly.

With the missions I'm struggling with the eco-driving ones and the endurances races - the AI seems to be driving super fast even before the weather change and the pitstops.

Oh man. I cleared the missions, cleared the books, cleared the license tests and almost every circuit exp until now without too much problems but I hit a wall at the Nurb. Totally amazes me how I used to drive around this track like nothing in GTS, its actually my favorite, and I can't even get gold on the first sector now. Only circuit exp. I have to do left along with the whole lap at LeMans... Reeally confused here. Any tips would be golden 🌞 Using a ds4 and TC1 presently

For the Le Mans - 24 Minutes I recommend getting an LMP1, I chose the TS050 Hybrid '16, Start on race mediums, pit for wets at the end of lap 2, stay on wets till end of lap 4, Pit for race mediums, should only be 6 laps, you'll catch the leader no problem.

For the Tsukuba Circuit I recommend the 86 Gr.B Rally Car on Sports Hard, you'll only need to pit for fuel on lap 15, where the AI pit twice and can't drive in the rain. If your having trouble in the rain, turn up traction control.

The freaking drag missions urgh :banghead:

I'm the sort of guy that HATES perma mods to my cars, so the most I do is put bolt on parts. Needless to say I don't have a specialised car for drag, nor do I want to dump hundreds of thousands into a car just for a 10 second race and never touch it again. I swear the AI was cheating when the yellow Civic beat my R8, but NOS solved that. The Viper had me trounced though.

SO I decided to buy drop a whole million on a TS050. Sub tonne, nearly 1000 combined HP, electric motor immediacy, and AWD. Just for insurance, Racing Soft tyres and full strength NOS. AND I STILL LOST. WHAT. THE. HELL?!

Caved in and bought the Veyron for 2.6 million to fill out my car Pokédex, since I had the invite anyway and it was pre 1.07. Slapped the same Racing Soft tyres and full strength NOS on it. Beat the freaking GT-R and got my 2J after. Yeah, even the 24 mins of Le Mans and S-10 were less trouble.

I swear the AI in these drag races are scripted cheaters, but I haven't heard anyone whine about them. Maybe it's just a problem I and no one else has.

Same, stuck on the Eco Driving with the 2000 Skyline. I tried shortshifting, but that only got me so far, just a second away from getting gold. Maybe I have to coast through corners? Set fuel consumption to 4 or something?

Should have spent that million on a Tomahawk X. All your troubles would be over.

Isn't the weather random? Or is it fixed for the missions?

I can't say I've struggled with anything yet. There's a few that took a number of attempts to get gold on, the Super Formula at Laguna Seca being one of them. But I tend to find I do an annoying thing where I consistently miss the gold time by about .010 and then out of nowhere go 1 second quicker. Haven't attempted the 2 longer races in the final set of missions and have only done 1 run on S-10 which saw a silver time.

So the Laguna Seca Super Formula combo in the S license, the F1500T wet weather challenge in missions and the 2nd drag race challenge where probably biggest ones I couldn't overcome initially.

The only thing I have struggled with this whole game are the st00pid drifting missions (everything else I could find myself chipping away at a good clip). I've managed to (barely) gold the first three, and believe me the Mustang was pure luck. I'm still over 1,000 points short for the Viper one and I've only barely silvered the actual drift car one at Tsukuba once. I've tried every manner of settings adjustments with my wheelbase, in-game settings, assists, you name it and I've tried it at this point. I'm fine with having two silvers if it means I don't have to do them anymore.

One thing I did notice after the 1.08 update where they supposedly made the drifting easier, was the first section of the Viper was the one area I could get roughly 2,500pts consistently, now I can barely get the car to slide and drift that first turn #wtaf

For the 2000GT Eco challenge at Tsukuba, I did it by setting fuel map to 6, then revving at the last moment to build up revs before a launch. These old NA cars bog horrendously off the line if you don't. When approaching corners you need to brake for, you can completely lift off the gas pedal about a second before applying the brakes to save fuel without costing yourself too much time. After that, it's just the same old fuel map + short shifting shenanigans. It's a toughie that took me a few tries, but definitely doable.

Here's Jimmy Broadbent Golding that challenge for reference. Starts at 1:45:22 (bad language warning).

I watched a video on YouTube and they recommended going with 5 and down to 4 after 60%. I went along with that kind of for my gold run. I didn't rev until right before the start to save fuel. I actually stayed on a more aggressive map until I got to 3rd gear at the start. You have to get the last corner right to be able to make the time. I ran out of fuel right before the line, but was still up a couple of tenths. I also turned off tcs.

The Viper one was tough, there's a really fine margin on the transition into the hairpin between being to fast and going straight off, or too slow and spinning. I found I needed to be hitting 2800 points or so in the first left hander to have any chance at getting gold.

Here's my gold run for inspiration. Was around a 7600 run.

All. Ashamed. I thought I'd improved more in GTS.

Got stuck in Cafe a few times. Truck at Daytona. Porsche at Nurburgring. Each of those took me a few days, 2-3 tries a day. All bronze though. Have to go back later.

Haven't started S License yet. Not ready for that yet. Ditto on the spicier Missions.

Nothing yet compared to the month it took for CE Gold on Nurburgring in GTS. But it's early.

That SLR passing challenge was really something. I learned that if you exit and go back the pace of the first car will change. I was able to get the third car on the inside of the last corner and made it past the last car on the straight. They were much closer together than the other runs.

Also I had a go at the Mustang drift challenge just now and golded it. I had to use the hand brake. It seems like that was the easiest way to get the points in the early section. I had a run that was just 8 points short but was able to beat it shortly after luckily. I took less speed in than possible and the handbrake helped a bit in not running off the track on the corner.

Thought i was doing pretty well, until i started reading how people have golded all the licenses and i'm still struggling to even finish S-10 after many attempts 🤦‍♀️

Didn't get gold on all the Laguna Seca track experiences.. but i at least completed it as a nod to GT3, when i did hundreds of laps in that Team Oreca Viper GTS-R for the gold trophy.

Apparently the Nurburgring gold circuit experience full lap is 20 SECONDS QUICKER in this, I think using the same car. There was a thread on here about it. I'm just like "I'm out". Bronze will be just fine. Not needed to get a platinum trophy at least. I wonder if it's tougher than mission 34 in GT4.

I've found everything tough. I see people be like 'oh, such and such is easy' and sometimes I wonder if they're that good or just lying
