Here's the Rotring Core:

Those are some sweet instruments. I thought about a Rotring, but they are quite heavy to hold....

I think I need to reward myself with a new pen.

I definitely recommend the Lamy Safari. It's light, incredibly comfortable, and the nib is very durable and smooth. The aluminum barrell one is actually just a thin overlay over the plastic version, so it is very light, and a little fatter at the upper part. The grip is comfortable and the same on both versions. The Safari is also available in white, red, yellow, and blue, among other colors. Best of all it's only about $35 I think, comes with a plug-in bladder, and cartridges are readily available in about 6 colors. I use a deep violet ink in the grey one, and I vary the silver one around from aqua to blue to blu-black so the ink is always mixing in the capillaries, and always subtly changing color as I write. I really really love mine for both writing and sketching.

The Rotring Core is OK. Not my favorite, but I like it. It is also mostly plastic so it's light. I know the Rotring you're talking about and this isn't like it. The one you mean is a solid aluminum, extruded hexagonal barrell, I bet. They are heavy but the few minutes I spent test driving one, it felt good. I may get one of those next year.

Yip that is the one.

Lamy Safari hey? I think i need to investigate this. Although with a name like Lamy, I'm guessin our thieving retailers here will charge and arm and a leg for it. Still, worth the investigation.

my primary tool of literature is my Staedtle ELITE mechanical pencil...=)

otherwise, it would be my dirt-cheap Papermate "fine-point" ballpoint pen

heh....fine point, my ass......o_O

I like heavy pens aka doctors pens and nice metal ones. Although at school i use cheap 40c pens (stuffed if i know how much USD it is)

Artlines...I forgot the model name, but they're great pens.
