What not to do to a BMW.

A neighbour of ours used to drive a BMW E34 318i (same age as the one in the photo) and his was red but without the wing, and he drove like a lunatic, spinning his rear tyres every junction, locking under braking etc.
We had a theory he had a night job as a get away man.

Then one day we saw it parked out side his house, rear suspension bust, body panels damaged and I figured out what happened before my mum even ask..
He took a corner to fast still braking
Span FOUR times,
Hit a grass bank,
Bust the suspension,
Went straight into a hedge.

Damn that's gotta hurt!

the M3 in the pic is an E36, E34 is a completely different body, and is actually a 5 series (pre 97) the 318 is probably BMW's most useless car ever made, they realized this and quit making it, the M3 has a 3.0 liter (OBDI cars 95) and 3.2 liter (OBDII cars) from 96-99 as well as a much better suspension, braking, thicker trailing arms, etc. all in all a better car, by far. and of course the front facia, side skirts, wing and rear diffuser.

'89-'96 I believe.

Well, no - they just quit making it in the US. Europe, Australia, and whatever other parts of the world get BMW still get the 318 as both a sedan and hatchback ('Compact'). They got a 316 as recently as the E36 ('92-'98) model also, but I'm unsure if they still do.

the M3 has a 3.0 liter (OBDI cars 95) and 3.2 liter (OBDII cars) from 96-99 as well as a much better suspension, braking, thicker trailing arms, etc. all in all a better car, by far. and of course the front facia, side skirts, wing and rear diffuser. [/B]

The E36 M3 debuted in 1994 with a 3.0. It kept that engine throughout its life as E36. The 333-bhp 3.2 wasn't put in the M3 until 2001.

the motor you are referring to is the E46 (S54)motor. The one I was refeering to was the American version (S52)was changed in 96, to a 3.2 the euro version had 6 individual throttle bodies 321 hp, the american version was 240 hp, I owned a 97 and a 99 M3 both were 3.2's my 97 was supercharged and real fun, my 99 was a convertible, for everyone that is about to say they quit building M3's in 98 lol...

the 3.0 liter was the S50 engine

the 3.2 is an awesome motor, look around, or ask anyone with a 96-99 m3, they will let you know what motor it has

hope I could help

P.S. Nothing against the 318's or 316's but they are far from comparable with an M3

What not to do to a BMW... Own it?

Seems like this guy's ego got past his talent, like about every BMW owner anyway.

The American E36 never had an engine other than the 3.0. Prove me wrong, I might be.

Duh - they're supposed to be entry-level cheapo BMWs. Nobody's comparing them. :odd:
