I keep seeing things like JDM church, or JDM Drift on the titles for room names. What does JDM mean? Is it a race team?

Japan(ese) Domestic Market.

It's a term coined to refer to anything made in Japan. Car-wise, that'd be like Toyota. Aftermarket would be like Advan or Works.

Well yea, a GTO is a 3000GT and for older cars, there are differences between the "JDM" and "USDM" versions (eg 240sxs, "Acura" nsxs or integras) so to please the anal, as I stated, it's stuff made IN japan that makes it DOMESTIC. A 3000GT is NOT "domestic".

And a IS-F is/can be "JDM" although there aren't any differences other than most notably the side the driving wheel is on.

JDM=Japanese Domestic Market, its mainly as Japanese brand cars, and also use as a certain style like a bright purple supra with green rims :)

JDM, or Japanese Domestic Market, typically refers to Japanese cars that are sold domestically in Japan. JDM cars or parts are made to conform to Japanese market requirements and regulations.

For example, the original Lexus IS that was sold in the US is NOT JDM even though it was made by a Japanese company. Since the Lexus IS was intended for and sold in the US market and not Japan, it doesn't count as JDM. However, a Toyota Altezza (which was very similar to the Lexus IS) sold in Japan would be a JDM vehicle.

Aside from all the facts. JDM could also mean the fads of the Japanese culture. From VIP cars ( Chaser..) To fixed up vans.

Or JDM girls vs KDM girls (Korean). It's taken a far broader meaning now days than a decade ago.

Does the "(J)" indicate that the car is a JDM version? If so, why do some non-JDM cars have the (J)? For example, Toyota Yaris F (J) '99, Lexus GS 300 Vertex Edition (J) '00 and Mitsubishi 3000GT MR (J) '95? Are these errors or is there a proper explanation to this?

(J) Most likely means the nation it came from in Japan. Or the version of it. So, yes.

JDM = Japanease DOmestic Market AKA :

Honda CRX SIR JDM = 10 more HP than UK or Euro version and Diffo Bumpers.
Honda Civic EK9 JDM = Black headlights more HP etc.

Basicly car's that vary from OEM and USDM, so if it's JDM it's probs BETTER and look the dogs danglies

go on a "JDM" forum, see what kind of answers you get there. Even people who are apart of the "JDM" scene disagree amongst themselves about what it truly means. For some people, "JDM" is getting a japanese car, usually a honda, and throwing some bright rims on it like hot pink, or hot green and slamming the suspension so the car drags on the ground. Don't forget angled exhausts, those are hella jdm.

For me, "JDM" is a clean, functional car meaning it is raced/daily driven with clean styling and usually japanese aftermarket parts IE mugen, spoon, SSR, j's racing, etc.

A 3000GT WAS made in Japan.

Its a term used to generate the maximum revenue from an old Japanese banger isnt it?

Like the following example:

'This car is old, clapped out and looks like a brick, id call it a bit of a junker, i'll give you £500 for it'

'yea but its JDM YO!!! I want £3,000'

JDM is often referred to as JOM on ebay when these dirtbags try to sell their junk and have no idea what they are talking about.

ie...a JOM lighted shift knob

IMO, JDM really means "Join Death Match", it is a team base crashing game with cars. So next time join the server, try crashing into everyone as fast as you can until you win the game; and if you don't win the game then you lost the game. 👍

HAVE FUN! 👍
