What PP amount do you consider acceptable to detune a car down to

As the title says. Generally speaking what's your threshold for detuning a car for online racing.

I've noticed for myself that if, for instance, I take a car around 610pp and add weight/limit power to get down to 525 that it just can't compete with other cars that have been more or less maxed out to reach the number.

Whatever you can tune it down to and still be competitive. I know that sounds glib, but last night I had a classic example. I tried to tune a Panoz GTR1 down to 610PP and it just didn't have the straightline speed or the the turn-in to be competitive.

I try to avoid power limiting under 85-90%. I never add weight (unless the car weighs like 700kg originally)

I gifted a SLS AMG to a friend detuned to 50% and with a few tuning parts added like drivetrain and suspension. He loves it, he's new to GT5 and he's able to drive it for the most part without spinning with most of the aids switched off.

I sometimes detune cars quite a bit.
I may want the powerband of a high RPM turbo on a car but not necessarily the fifty PP that comes with it.

Adding weight I don't do, except it weighs as much as a feather

If I detune, I limit the power to max 90%. This just to keep the car as original as possible, keeping it's characteristics. :)

When I don't reach the pp limit, I just choose another car :p

I bought a Hyundai Coupe FX and put a racing exhaust on it and detuned it to fifty percent engine power, or about 340pp. Then I painted it pink, put wheels on it and painted them pink and gave it to a friend... :D

I never power down to anything less than 90% If the car is tuned up, then i just remove bits or downgrade some of the racing stuff to sport and get the car in that way. 9 times out of 10 the car seems to be more competetive that way than strangling the power limiter.

I find power limiting to much messes up the powerband, so I generally try to do no more than 5% limiting and simply remove tuning prats. However, I do sometimes use it to smooth out a really peaky curve whilst simultaneously reducing pp rather than just removing a tuning part.

This is what I do also, I only have a few cars detuned. There are just to many cars in the game to have to detune. It changes the whole character of the car, a peaky four can be turned into a smooth V8. To hell with that.
