I live in P.S.J, Florida. I've seen this spider a few times, I first saw it.. maybe a week ago. I don't know wich spider this is and I think this spider is really strange.. I've seen four spider-webs with this spider. So, does anyone know what spider this is? I've been trying to get good pictures and this is the best I could get.

Here is one with a little bit of zoom.

I Florida there's probably all kinds of weird crap... I remember going there once and seeing a cockroach the size of a small rat. (ok, so maybe not that big) That doesn't look like no spider because my spidar isn't going off... :dopey:

Avoid it. It looks poisonous. Its probably those little spikey things too.

Holy hell. That's not normal. How big would you say it is? In comparison to a quarter or something similar?

Catch it and show it to a biology teacher or something.

Wow!! Thanks everyone for your information!! I have to find out if it is poisonous.. Oh, and it is the size of a 10 cent dime. (U.S):)

DEJA VU!!

I swear I saw one of those in my bed the other night...good thing I scared it off though

They're pretty cool. If I kill any fleas or something, I always stick them in their webs outside of my house. They come over and wrap them up. They have some super strong webs, though. You can stretch them a whole foot without them breaking. They're not harmful, as far as I'm aware. The female ones-- the one in your photo-- will eat the smaller males, though.

Also, don't kill them or destroy their webs unless you like mosquitos and flies and stuff.

It looks too small to be poisonous to humans or to be able to give a bite capable of getting through a humans skin. I wouldn't worry about it.

Here's the many names of it:

crab spider, spinybacked orbweaver, spiny orbweaver spider, crab-like orbweaver spider, crab-like spiny orbweaver spider, jewel spider, spiny-bellied orbweaver, jewel box spider or smiley face spider.
