A couple of days ago I've bought the new DLC and installed it. Since I didn't have time to check it out at the time,I turned off my PS3 and came back to it a couple of hours later. After starting the GT5 I got the "screen adjustment" screen, just like you start GT5 for the first time. And behold, my savegame didn't load, it just made me start the game over. Afterwards I found a coruppt file in my savegame folder. Is there a way to restore the original savegame, or did I just lose over 1 years worth of gametime, cars, XP etc., and have to start over? Why does something like this happen? Help anyone?

this happens WAY to much lol no unless you had a USB drive with your gt5 saved on it 1 time i got the same screen but had my data

Sorry, messed up the forum. Moderator, can you please move this post to Q&A section?

We used to get this alot in the market place people wanted cars for free because they lost there data its a bit different now because its so easy to earn big money through the seasoanals. If you did not make a copy of your savefile on a usb stick then you will have lost it all but you can redownload your dlc stuff to get you started if you want to borrow any cars to help get you back on your feet send an fr to zegolfman.

How do you save to a USB? Do you just have it in while saving and it automatically goes to USB or is there a procedure you need to do?

When at the XMB go to games> press up till you go to the PS3 game save data>enter>select GT5(should be about 900KB)>triangle>copy>copy to USB X drive.

You will need a USB stick in the PS3.

Thanks, grayfox will try when I get home

Im a big sucker too,
I bought the first DLC and a few days later I couldnt use Kart Space anymore. And I still cant!!!!

I bought the new Route X thinking it would recheck what dlc i had and allow me to use Kart Space again. It didnt work. I can use Spa and Route X but still not Kart Space.

Cant find a fix, so im just left paid for dlc and dont have some of it. Pretty annoying to say the least.

Some have found that downloading and installing the "Family Upgrades" from the PS Store fixed the issue with their Kart Space track. Even if you don't have additional accounts on your PS3, it's something to try. 👍

I use two CF cards and alternatively save to them after every session. Even if I get a blown save and a corruption the most I can lose is one session. I highly advise everyone to employee a similar strategy or they can lose everything.

It also has practical aspects. I was recently half way through the 24hr Nurburgring and was saving everytime I suspended the game. At one start up I had a nasty audio distortion which made it very unpleasant to play. I simply shut down and reloaded from the save file and went on with the race uninterrupted.

This is why the playstation plus auto save upload fynction comes out top. Everynight my ps3 uploads all my updated save games.

PS+...what if you have GT5 running 24/7, will the file push to the cloud if the game is actively running?

Had that once, too. Copied the save game to another account (if you don't have one yet, just create one without the PSN account). Deleted the original save game. Copied it back from the "backup"-account. It worked again. (equivalent to copying to USB stick, of course)

Probably doesn't help for any corrupt save game, but helped for mine.

Mate, same thing happened to me a couple weeks ago. I was shellshocked!

Had to start again unfortuntely..

Is that it? That sounds very simple

I need to do this as my ps3 is dying and i'd be pretty pissed if i lost my 600 cars and gametime

Hi.i see everyone is saying to use a "usb stick" but is there a way to use an "external Hardrive" instead?? I havent got a usb stick but if I need to buy one i will,I really dont want to lose everything i got if it ever happens to me.

You can use a USB hard drive. But I think it has to be formatted as FAT32. For just backing up saves it's easy to make a small partition but you'll have to have the space available to make one. For something larger like a full backup you'll need a program that can make large FAT32 partitions. Of course this may have changed since I did it.

Doesn't specifically need to be a "USB stick" either. I have an MP3 player that works just fine for game saves. From there it's no problem to copy them anywhere else for safekeeping.

You really should backup the GT5 save now and then, along with at least any time-consuming games that let you. Soul-crushing disappointment really does suck.

Thread moved.

And, condolences. That really does suck.

So can ALL game save files be backed up onto an external hard drive connected via USB? My dad's going to replace his older 300 GB hard drive which connects with USB for (most likely) a 1 TB hard drive, and pass it down to me. Saying that my PS3 was made in march 2007 (says on date sticker on the side) and refurbished later, AND suffered from a broken disk drive while in use, AAAANNNND has crashed a few times, (without losing data luckily) I'd like to back up all of my data on one device. Also, the current 80 GB hard drive is almost full, with about 5.5 gigs left. I've never lost game data, but I have lost a massive Adobe Flash file, and that was NOT fun.

Quitting the game or turning off the console when auto game save is running is probably the most common cause for corrupt files.

It has happened to me once, the lights flickered for a moment at the same exact time the game was saving the file, console turned off. When I restarted, file was corrupted. Luckily I has a recent save on my usb.

You should always manually save your game before you quit, and make sure you wait for the auto save to end too.

The Game save data can be much larger than that.
Mine is 3700Kb.
Having all cars, gears, level-, birthday- and special-tickets. ;)
... make sure you wait for the auto save to end ...

good point. 👍
