20 minutes is NOT FAR. Especially since we both have cars.

And I have TF2 (for 360) and it doesn't take up that much time. Lamest excuse ever.
 
That is a rarely seen "Spock bug".
For you old trekkies Spock would say something like "Sir, I believe you have a large multi-legged creature on your shoulder."
When they looked, he would casually apply the Vulcan nerve pinch that renders most humanoids unconscious in about 3 seconds.

No, that'd be a garf. When you squeeze the neck muscle shoulder thing right there? Yeah. That's a garf.
 
We have those around here. I've seen a few in my garage. I didn't mess with it I thought it looked kool and went back to what I was doing. He didn't mess with me after that.

Look what I found under my mom's bed:

We've had these little black beetle things for a few weeks now. I couldn't figure out what they were. I thought they were carpet beetles, but all the pics I could find of them were of the Varied carpet beetle, which is grey and brown and stuff. I would see them every now and then, but my dog started itching real bad.

Today, as I was stretching on the floor in my mom's room, I noticed a green veggie-flavor milkbone near the foot of the bed. It had holes all over it and then the light went off in my head. I flipped it over and it was beetle-mania. I looked up carpet beetles again, and apparently there are also Black carpet beetles, which these things closely resemble.

So I figured there must be other milk bones my dog has hidden elsewhere... and I went searching. After taking apart mom's bed, I found two more bones, including the one pictured above. The other one turned to dust when I went to pick it up. It was nasty. I had to turn the whole house upside down looking for milk bones. I have a feeling my dog picked one or two of these little bastards up from my uncle's yard, and then they migrated to a food source under my mom's bed. My dog goes and sleeps under there when he's stressed out, so that explains the itching.

I just finished vacuuming my entire house... moved every piece of furniture and basically turned this place inside out like I said. Anybody know if that'll be enough to keep them from coming back? How do I kill them? I'm kind of glad they chose to eat the milkbones instead of my clothes, but now there are no milk bones left and I want those ****ers dead.
 
You need something like Indorex.

It's primarily marketed to kill fleas and to stop flea eggs hatching, but this stuff kills everything. Buy yourself a tin of it and liberally cover all of your carpets and soft furnishings. It stinks, so you need to ventilate for several hours and remove all animals for a while, I'd also suggest use of a light mask to cover your mouth and nose to stop you breathing it in. It lasts for a year or so, but there's nothing to stop you re-treating all your carpets again in 3-6 months just to make absolutely sure all the little buggers are dead and never coming back.
 
Is there a product stateside that contains those chemicals?
 
This stuff seems pretty similar and has some chemicals that start with "P".

You could just go to the pet store and buy some bug bombs. Those tend to kill pretty much every bug in the house in 1 or 2 applications. Kinda of a pain though since you have to leave the house for a few hours.
 
Yeah, there is Raid, HotShot, and BlackFlag stuff, but I don't want to to kill my dog. :lol:
 
That's what you gotta do though. When we took in new cats we had serious flea problems. Thankfully they weren't on us, but they were everywhere else so we had to board the cats for a day at the vet and my mom bombed the house while dad was at work, then the two of us had to find something to do all day. That got rid of the flea problem and left the house smelling a lot fresher, actually.
 
I believe that the stuff you get in the US is way more potent than the stuff we can get, so as long as it's coming from a pet store, then your doggeh should be fine :)

I just went to town on my house with this stuff:

The directions say that it is safe for children and pets once it has dried. You just spray a barrier around the base of the room/area you are treating and it kills bugs on contact, similar to what professional exterminators do on a monthly basis.

I just moved the cat and dog away from the area I was treating at the time and they are fine. My wife had our daughter at her parents while I did it. Of course, if these beetles aren't migrating far then it will have minimal effect, but if you spray around the bed you found them under it might stop them from getting anywhere else.

But if they are burrowing in the carpet then you will likely need a bug bomb of some sort, or find some kind of carpet treatment that you can use and then clean up with a carpet shampooer.

Also, I highly suggest not letting the dog have treats that he/she doesn't finish in seconds outside of whatever area you put them in when you aren't home. We had to limit our chihuahua to pork skin and larger crunchy treats like that to the kitchen only to avoid finding them in our bed and other furniture where he "buried" them.
 
Yeah well my dog is 15 and has no teeth. Nothing strong enough for crunchy treats anyway. The only thing he eats on the spot is pupperoni. He would lick the milk bones at night to keep himself busy.
