I have a Celeron PC at 1.8GHZ and was wandering what would make gaming faster? Video card, or what? Thanks and I will NOT buy a new PC!

RAM and new Processor will make is faster.

A Video Card however will improve this the most!
In fact considerably if you buy a top end Video Card

More RAM and a better video card, anything else you shouldnt have to worry about.. If you want better sound, get a better ivdeo card. :P

Definitely more RAM. Celerons aren't exactly speed demons. Depends on what video card Simon Tibbett has now. If he has, let's say a GeForce 3, then buying a GeForce 4 won't help very much.

Definately more RAM and video card. Do you have an open AGP clot? If not, even a video card won't get you top perfoamnce gaming.

Celerons are also relatively easy to overclock, just make sure your cooling is up to par.

Does the amount of free space on the HDD really effect your performance when gaming?

It can, but it probably won't be noticeable. There is quite a bit of disk swapping going on, so having a clean and defragged drive helps.

forget the processor, it has very little bearing on gaming performance.
Ram is important, but anything in the 256-512 megabyte range should do (256 for Windows 9X, 512 for 2000 or XP.)
The video card is the part that will offer the greatest increase in gaming power. A nice ATI 8500, or GF3 or 4 Ti card should do. (and are fairly cheap in price for the performance they provide.)
