Hi all

After watching another Best Motoring Video, I though I would as which track(s) on GT4 most closely resemble a touge?

This would be great 2 player, bumper to bumper action!

(PS. I have loads of Best motoring and BMI video's, PM me if you want to exchange!)

I wouldn't say there's a whole track that is close, but there I think there are parts. Citta di Aria(?) springs to mind. From the hairpin turn, over the start finish line, to the top of the hill, and then turn around and go back down again. Maybe from the entrance to the tunnel on Cote d Azur up to Casino? (In reverse obviously) Got to be up/down hill, tight and narrow...

I think a touge challenge would have been a cool addition to GT4, and maybe some mountain drift tracks...

A Touge is a Japanese race, usually illegal street racing, challenge type of thing. Two cars.

A touge is a race up and down a mountain road. Ususally very narrow, and slippery and tight. There's traditionally no passing. One car leads up the hill, and tries to increase the gap by the time they get to the top, usually only 30 - 45 seconds away. At the top they swap positions, and then go down the hill. Again, the lead car tries to pull away and the chase car tries to stay close. If the first lead car can pull a gap on the way up, then stay close on the way down, he wins -or the other way around. :)

^very confusing

OK.

The track:
A narrow mountain road. Not very long, only takes about 30 - 45 seconds to race from top to bottom. (That's the track done - and that's what touge is, a mountain route/race).

The racing:
Two cars set off from the bottom, one behind the other. They race to the top of the road/mountain. The car in front tries to pull away from the car behind, and the car behind tries to stay close to the car in front.
At the top, they turn around and swap positions. They're now heading down the hill. The car that was chasing going up the hill is now in front. That means the car that was leading up the hill, is now chasing down the hill. Does that make sense? They swap positions anyway.
Now they race down the hill. The car in front tries to pull away from the car behind, and the car behind tries to stay close to the car in front.

That's how it works, now for the winning:
When they head up the hill, if the car in the lead can pull away from the car behind, the lead car is obviously faster. Likewise, if the car that is chasing can stay with the car in the lead, then the chasing car is obviously faster.
It's the same on the downward leg.
If the car in front is fastest, it will pull away from the car behind. If the chasing car is fastest, then it will stay close to the car in front.

Winner is who can pull a gap and stay close. Car 1 pulls a gap up the hill, then stays close on the downhill, the fastest so the winner. If car 2 stays close on the uphill, then pulls a gap on the downhill, the fastest so winner.

Is this clearer? :)

^alot clearer now. sounds like fun, trying to keep up but not overtaking.

If you've got a Broadband internet connection, get hold of GeeUK and see if he'll flick you one of his touge vids. It's awesome stuff to watch, that's for sure... :)

LOL HAR HAR TOUGE=TOO GAY AM I RITE!??!?!?!

I'd have to say either Costa Di'Amalfi(reminds me of Mt. Irohakaza), or Trial Mountain.
