Just wondering peoples preferences in regards to what view you use.

I've been trying to use the cockpit view since I started (thought it seemed more realistic), but since changing to the screen where you see nothing from the car, just screen (with tacho and such showing) my lap times are coming down and I'm feeling a little more comfortable whilst driving.

So the question is, what view do you use, and why ?

I did exactly the same as you. I tryed to drive in the cockpit view but couldn't get fast enough lap times, so I went to bumper cam. Now they are much faster. But in the F2007 I use the T-cam(above the cockpit) just because the car is so fast and it gives you more time to see what's coming up ahead of you.

edit: Another reason I use bumper cam is so when i'm online i can see the rear vision mirror easily.

I use the cockpit view always. I feel its just the most realistic one to use & have been waiting for a GT game to have that view for ages.
 
This thread has been done a few times, searching would have come up with one of them easy.

I am suprised you didn't make a poll. As for me..... Cockpit, in every game that has one and always will.
 
I too try to use cockpit, but I just never do. I find it harder to control slides in the interior view, can't see what's happening at the back end. I use the 3rd person view, pretty much always unless I'm not going too fast which I then use cockpit.
 
I think the best view would have been a view where you could just see the top of the steering wheel at the bottom of the screen, kinda of half way between cockpit and bumper. I think I'll persist with trying to like the cockpit view, it seems like the most realistic.

How to you make a poll by the way? At the thread starter screen I saw a poll option and pressed it, but nothing happened. Thanks mate
 
Bumper,got started with that with GT3 & have found nearly impossible to change old habits.I have tried to get used to cockpit but always get frustrated& switch back. Except with F2007 use T Camera pod so I can see front wheels.

Only view that i have ever used was cockpit view and will always be :D
I've been waiting since gt4 for that in car view, so now that i got it, in such a detail, i'm using it.

Cockpit here, when i'm racing with a wheel.
If i'm playing with a controller I use 3rd person.

but mostly i play with a wheel so, cocpit iew for me
 
I'm surprised to see that most people use bumper and roof view. I've been using 3rd person since the GT2 days personally. I find it easier since it's much easier to see the cars outside and judge the distance better. I find roof and bumper view much, much harder.
 
Cockpit view for me, the only problem i have is when i use the left and right view to look around the interior i dont see a corner coming lol :dunce:

i know i can go faster with the bumper view. but nothing beats the realism
 
Bumper veiw. I find the steering wheel in cockpit veiw is just stupid,
1. wheel is only rotating 360 or whatever..
2. I have wheel infront of me, dont need to see a second spinning wheel... .:dunce:

Cockpit, always, just alone for the realism and the feeling is more intense imo.
 
Cockpit for the most part, but as other people have said, I can get faster times with the bumper or roof cams, so I use those sometimes depending on the car. (GT by Citroen, F2007, Ferrari California, etc.)

Same here.

Though it's more realistic, if I was in a real cockpit I would only be looking out of the window, not at the gearstick etc. I also find it disorientating looking left and right in cockpit view.
 
cockpit, its the most realistic, maybe im faster with bumper but thats how fast i could be realistically... only cockpit!
 
I love cockpit view, it literally makes me giggle, and without it I feel like I'm playing GT4 with better physics and nicer track/opponent imaging. However, I'm rarely able to match my lap times achieved with the bumper view, I love/need the big guages on the bottom of the screen and the open visual field. I hate myself a little for this, but am unwilling to put the time in and practice more from the cockpit view.

Spyrarri, you run amazingly well from the cockpit, well done sir.

GT4 was the hood cam

I switch to interior cam while on straights or checking whos beside me
