Hello everyone, since I don't have my ps5 right now, I thought of this topic I could start discussing. One of my neighbors/friends suggested I do this. So, all admins please don't delete this thread. So, what was your first ever console or gaming device that you first purchased in your life. Mine was the Nintendo Gameboy from 1998, then the ps1 in 1999. And what inspired you to make that purchase? This would be an interesting topic to compare gaming consoles from the past 3-4 decades. My mom and her friends played games like Frogger, Asteroids, Mega man and Pac-man on the Atari in the early 1980's. Also, what were your favorite games on your chosen console?

This would be a great thread for new folks looking to buy new games and gaming consoles or gadgets. There's many options to select from. I thought about this a couple days ago so I'd thought I'd bring the discussion up. So, to all admins please do not delete this thread. Thank you.

My Spectrum 128k +2, Commodore 64, and Sega Megadrive were all Christmas presents from the family, so the first console I bought with my own money was the PlayStation, which I think was about 1997. First credit agreement I ever had too... since I couldn't afford to actually buy one outright (IIRC it was about £19 a month, which was 25% of my wages). If UK members remember 'Choices' video stores, that's where I got my PS from, from an attractive young women named Rhonda.

The only game I remember playing a lot was Formula 1 '97, prior to a mate recommending Gran Turismo... which is a franchise that has meant I've invested in every PlayStation since (with the exception of the Vita).

You may also want to look at this thread as you may have just duplicated what’s already been done.

The first game I ever played was some Pong clone on the Spectrum 48k (ZX+) in the mid Eighties, I think what the first system you dropped your own coin on is a different question. That said there probably isn't as much of a difference these days with consoles being more prolific, but for kids growing up in the Eighties, you probably knew someone with a system long before you got one of your own, which was probably not one you bought yourself.

Oops, well...great consoles guys. I'll take a look at that thread you posted.

@Sprite Wow that thread is 14 years old. I didn't even see it.

While you're at it, take a look at this one and explain to me (rather than ignoring me as usual) why you felt the need to ask "all admins" (there's one: me) not to delete the thread - twice - bearing in mind that if something needs to be removed, the staff will remove it regardless of any requests not to, and something that would need to be removed shouldn't be posted in the first place.

Do you think that this thread that you made is one that shouldn't have been made?

Does this mean I can still delete it?
I don't think you can, since Chris politely asked you not to, assuming that by all admins he meant "all moderators and those with the privileges", of course.

However, there is a loophole: you can always lock the thread as an alternative. :dopey:
