i thought it would be pretty interesting to know what everybodys first wheel was,i'll kick things off.

I've always been a pad player but only used the wheel at the arcades till sega saturn came out with daytona usa/sega rally then i stepped up to a mad catz wheel

No FFB but working horn and sequential shifter!

Joking aside, yes had a Madcatz for PS1 and RIDGE RACER.
Probably the 1st arcade port that really looked/sounded and felt like the arcade but still a dodgy wheel. Took mine back in the end as it broke in about 2 weeks.

For PC it was this for games like TOCA 2 / Colin McCrae 2.0 / Rally Masters / GP3
Microsoft Sidewinder

I mounted that to the 'Easy Fold Desk' It looked kind of like this (minus the front bottom cross bar):

It worked great, folded away in my closet too, just wheel my office chair up to it and off I went. Ahhhh, memories......

I actually bought the SEGA Saturn Arcade Racer wheel... what a POS. Returned it QUICKLY. Was given one later, gave it away. Was given ANOTHER one in the box, still have it.

yup your right about that, the wheel had a very hollow plastic cheap feel and pretty noisey.wow you still have one in the box? i heard they are pretty hard to find you might have a collectors item there

No idea what it is called or even the brand name, but it was a wheel for PC that I purchased in 2003 to play with NASCAR 2003. I am pretty sure it is still at my Dad's house. Sadly, I lost the disc to the game somewhere.

Had a Driving Force GT for a few months back in the early days of GT5, then went back to a DS3 for a year or so before I picked up a Logitech G27. Been banging out the G27 since 2013 and will continue to do so until GT6 support ends. I have a T300RS that I'm using for Project CARS and other future racing games on the PS4. Great wheel and love the fact you can swap rims and pedal sets. 👍

Until about a year after GT3 came out, these things were everywhere and pretty much every racing game supported them since games just recognized them as neGcons. I remember even playing Driver with it a few times. It wasn't as good as the wheel I had on PC around the same time:

But that was mostly because it didn't have as much resistance.

This is a great thread! I also had the OP's Mad Catz analog wheel for PS1 as my first. At the time I thought it was great, but not for traditional racers. I used it in Wipeout. The gas pedal was throttle and I used the brake to fire. I used the shifter while steering for hard pitch turns. It worked beautifully.

My first FFB wheel was the Logitech Driving Force Pro. I had tried out the Logitech Wingman Formula Force GP/Driving Force EX and my father's glorious Logitech Momo Force (the luxe red one), but as a fan of production cars I found the 900 degree steering to be a game changer. That Driving Force Pro treated me so well and got me hooked on so many racing games. It never failed me and I passed it on to a friend, still in perfect working order.

The DFP was a great wheel, I used mine until GT5 came out then I switched to a G27. Just recently gave it to another sim racer. :)

What was my very first driving wheel? Very good question. I'm not sure but I think it was a Microsoft sidewinder FFB.

This was my first wheel as well, actually it is the only wheel I have ever had and I am still using it.
Getting ready to fire up AC in about 30min. I will get another wheel as I suspect it will improve my driving at least a little bit.

My first wheel was the Logitech Driving Force with Gran Turismo branding, the first official one for GT3 on PS2. I had it mounted to an IKEA glass side table & sat it in front of my 14" Toshiba 4:3 CRT TV, aswesome set up huh!

That's the "GT Force for Gran Turismo 3"!!

The "Driving Force for PlayStation 2" was the follow up. Basically the same wheel but it had a D pad and PlayStation buttons on the rim at the thumb positions, making it more user friendly, but less cool somehow IMO. I don't know why I felt that way, but I did. I had one and I think it went to my cousin once I got the DFP. Got it because the GT Force was feeling a lil tired, plus hey, multiplayer!!

The DF was the wheel that we used (on Initial D Special Stage mostly) until it burned up, called Logitech and they were like, oh cool, glad you liked it so much, cut off the USB cable and we will send you another. :D

Once I got the DFP tho there was no going back.

This was probably years ago. I initially used MadCatz for PS1, which unfortunately didn't last very long for me though it did for a couple of my friends. Decided to use Logitech after that which lasted a long time for me after that!

My first wheel was this vibrating peace of crap:

Thankfully it broke in a few months and since then I had Logitech Formula EX and Logitech DFGT.
Currently using Thrustmaster T300RS.

First I thought it was a Logitech DFP, then I remenber that I got the Logitech GT Force bundle with GT3 before it !
...
But digging in my memory, it seems that my very first wheel was the official Dreamcast Race Controller (I bought it for Daytona USA)... The feeling was so bad that I used it only a couple of times.

Holy crap! Are those suction cups?
Mine was and still is a Logitech Driving Force Pro.
Praying that when GT Sport comes out, it'll still be supported. I'm not ready to get a new one.

My first wheel was a

Logitech Formula Vibration Feedback Wheel

no power supply at all - so all force came from the USB-input. I did get rid of that rather fast (and did uprade to a Logitech MOMO).

The DFP isn't supported on PS4. :(

Unless Sony and Polyphony decide to do something really cool and let last gen Logitech wheels work... I mean, at least the GT branded ones like the DFP and DFGT would be reasonable, right?
