In this topic, you can discuss cars, tracks, features, songs, basically ANYTHING about Gran Turismo 5 that you think shouldn't have made it into the game, or shouldn't have been executed the way it was. Here are some of mine:

Inclusion of weird premium cars: There are some cars that truly deserved to be included as a premium model, such as the Lamborghini Murcielago and the Ferrari F2007. But there were quite a lot of cars that would have been better off as a standard model. Seriously, whose idea was it to make the Suzuki Cappuccino a premium model?!

Paint chips: Why not just let us buy whatever colour we want for, say, 1,000 credits, instead of making us collect all of these stupid paint chips?

A-Spec/B-Spec levelling system: One of the worst ideas if you ask me. I don't know about you, but when I can finally afford to buy a decent car, I don't want to be turned away because I don't have enough experience points.

Yeah, some premium cars are just boring, but I like the Cappuccino. The 2 Daihatsu cars seem pointless to me since I've never seen one online or heard about people using them.

I agree, the Cappuccino IS very fun to drive. :)

People use the Daihatsu Copen in spec races a lot.

Talking about cars that's never used - and may be pointless, the only Seat has to be mentioned. I've never seen it online. But, well, who could know that?

Shouldn't have been in the game:
- Kei-Cars
-X1
-Leveling system
-SRF

Shouldn't have been executed the way it was:
-SSRX as a drag strip
-The car selection when doing Shuffle Races (You would get a muscle car while everyone else is driving an Audi)
-This game
-Low speed physics

It may be stated in other threads but engine sounds are absolutely terrible in this game.

Engine sounds are mega fail. The Cops 'n' Cruise lobby around here outlawed Racing Exhuast for realism, well what happens when a car's Racing Exhaust is the only one besides stock that doesn't sound completely horrible? (See: Premium 1969 Camaro Z/28)

Many of the new tracks are irritiating: London and Cape Ring are extremely annoying to race on online, but they show up in a great number of lobbies. Kart Space almost qualifies as trolling by PD, but at least it looks sorta like a neon bowling alley! [/sarcasm]

The soundtrack is just annoying, so it's good that you can use your own. I do appreciate the ability to use different playlists for menus and races, which seems to be a fairly rare feature.

Too many slow cars, too many duplicates. And you'd think the prize car color picker algorithm was weighted in favor of neutral colors. When I first started out the game, I started accumulating white, silver, gray, and black cars at an amazing rate. The UCD is the same way, but at least there they can say it has something to do with realism or something.

Permanent engine damage. WHY?

I have to admit I'm a tad dissapointed that they put a 2 variations of the Cappucino and the Copen that to the naked eye aren't different at all but they relegate the Camaro SS to standard status while it's littler and slower brother the Z28 get premium.

I like the Cappuccino, but it doesn't really make sense to have 2 premium Cappuccinos.

What permanent engine damage?

I think he means, loss of HP due to driveing 8000+ mi.
Only options. Use a restore ticket or buy another car.

*5,000 miles +

Engine damage starts to kick in at 5,000 km (approximately 3,100 miles), but can be fixed with an engine rebuild at that point. I don't remember where permanent damage starts, but I think it's 15,000 km.

Lets see:
*Cut the number of cars down to 500 max
*All premium cars, make the game on 2dvd's if needed. One to install and one for playing.
*Allot more real race tracks. There are such a big number of nice tracks out there.
*UCD should hold more cars, if not all.
*Complete and up to date racecar series. How about a complete ALMS, Daytona, GT500, DTM, Fia GT line up instead of just a few of each, and some very outdated.
*Remove B-spec
*Lower the seasonal rewards (we make way to much money right now)
*Removal of the ugly rain and smoke pixels.
*24hr versions of Daytona, Spa.
*More challenging A-spec. The only challenge now comes from the seasonals, wich are alot more satisfying to try and win then the A-spec cups.
* Better online lobby with a better search filter
* More cars on the track at the same time
* Tirewear in all races
* Better sounds, not ust the engines, but also brakes etc. Look at GTR games for a reference.
* Standing starts, and double file roling starts for normal races.
* More liveries for racecars.

Just to name a few things.

I have another one.

PENALTIES IN THE SEASONAL EVENTS. I'm not talking about the time trials, those should have had them from the beginning.

I heard of the standard Ferraris in the OCD and decided to buy them. Only problem is, the F2007 is 12.5 mil. I think, "OK, I'll just do some quick seasonal grinding to get the money." Thing is, I was still thinking like it was the summer of 2011, when "making money" meant "take a fully tuned, RS tired Ferrari and corner cut the Ferrari seasonal untill you have mega $$$". I hadn't done much seasonal grinding since those days, which meant there were some new facts I was unaware of:

Fact: the Dream Car Championship (my chosen grinding event) has only one possible grid, which puts the rabbit - a Jaguar XJR-9 - on the pole (of course).

Fact: Stock, the XJR-9 is very close to the event's PP limit, so no hope of using brute force to catch the rabbit (with only two laps, it's hardly a n00b solution). There are also tire limits, so no hope of using RS tires to outhandle the rabbit.

Fact: The seasonals now have ridiculous penalties to prevent corner cutting, and they're handed out somewhat more harshly than in real life (the Audi- and apparently FIA-approved "use the paved runoff area as part of the track" maneuver is worth a penalty, for example).

All of which makes money grinding much more difficult and inefficent than it used to be. I guess grabbing the standard F2007 before it's gone forever isn't going to be quite as easy as it would have been back in the day.

If you do an engine rebuild in gt life it restores the engine hp when you lose hp

Skid Recovery Force, and the Blitz 4-door R34 WITHOUT putting a stock one in!

Another thing that PD didn't make it correct was Audi R10 TDI having a 6-speed tranny when it only has 5-speed in real life.

Allowing us to accumulate 1,000s of cars with no way to realistically organise and identify them in a quick and timely manner.

Surely it would not be that hard to have just a normal directory system with sub folders and the ability to rename cars/folders so they can be sensibly organised.

And then to be able to copy and paste settings from car to car.

You never know how much you miss a simple DOS file system until you try and sort your garrage out :-(

While on this subject WTF why can't you sort your cars by "Last Used" when online? What is so hard?

Some cars I have 4 or 5 of and I have regularly jumped in the wrong one while trying to beat the race start timer :-(

Why? Because this stupid game makes the car lose HP because it needs an oil change and you *CAN'T* do it while in a lobby and you need another fresh car that hasn't lost HP yet!

Same theme - why isn't there function to "Change ALL oils in ALL cars" or a multiple that is selected at least?

This irritating stupidity from the game is just so frustrating at times :-( MAJOR FAIL!!!

Full original HP cannot be obtained when the car is past a certain mileage. It is permanently lost, unless a car restore ticket is used.

The tuning shop is getting tedious. How about just a list of all parts, with check boxes beside them. You check all the parts you want and hit a button to install them. In and out. I'm starting to hear "Dut...DutDut...Dut" in my sleep.

More rims to buy, especially stock rims like in GT4, but always available, not on a rotating basis. I miss my Nardo with the Karmann Ghia hubcaps.

And why aren't there dirt or snow tires available for the Fireblade? It's the closest thing to a Rail in the game and were stuck on the pavement?

Yes but eventually you start to lose BHP permanently(you can't regain the HP with oil change and/or engine rebuild).

Z28 was the track day package and was designed for Trans-Am racing. Trans-Am cars were limited to around 5 liters so it got the 302 small block.

But that depends how many miles or kilometers the car has ran before applying both oil change and engine rebuild.

To be exact; after 5000 miles is when you experience permanent power loss that an oil change or engine rebuild cannot regain.

Or 8000 kilometers. I have noticed this with several standard cars in the UCD.

It's 15,000 km, or somewhere over 9,000 miles. Power loss begins at 5,000 km (about 3,100 miles), but is correctable until the 15,000 km threshold, at which point permanent damage starts to take place.
